7/22/24 Hey hey hey.  I'm sorry. IM SORRRRYYYYYYYY!!! I can't believe I literally didn't send out an email my first week here (face palm) but repentance is real. And I ask for everyone's forgiveness:)<3 Hello everybody!! Sister Johnson reporting from the Washington Spokane mission! Lewiston Idaho area:) Which is apparently the promised land (at least according to everybody I've talked to) so much has happened as you can probably imagine. My brain is constantly getting fried with all of the things I have to remember, learn, and do. Also with the heat. Highs have been consistently in the 100°s. So that's been fun :p  The Lewi folks call it "fire season" which isn't an exaggeration because there are fires. We had some sisters on emergency exchanges last week for a few days because their area was on fire. They were all OK! But ig now that they are back they are getting lots of service hours in. But yeah it's pretty smoky here:) I am living in ...

The Grind begins🔥 Sawbona, Unjani? Dumelang, Legae? Halo, hoe gaan dit? Hope everyone is doing splendid!  This week has been pretty rough not gonna lie. A lot of dropping and lowering our teaching pool. We are in a fun faze here where you baptize a ton and then all of a sudden you're teaching nobody... sooooo this week will be the beginning of a Grind of finding more people and starting a new teaching pool. We had another baptism this week! It was our boy Tlholohelo! (Good luck saying it). What's cool is that this baptism finishes off one of the families we have been baptizing. We kinda did one at a time haha. The mom got baptized which led to the dad wanting to join. Then after him the son wanting to be baptized. To add some spice to all that as we were filling the font the power went out in the chapel... sooo the water heater was down and the water was frigid (and keep in mind it's winter rn). We were skeptical if the baptism would still go down. We asked Tlholohelo and...

Fruit of the labor !🍈🍑🍉🍋🍌🍍🥝🍐🍒🍓🍎🍊🍏🥭🍇 7/22/24 The question of the week is what is your favorite dried fruit ?  Frozen fruit ?  For me: ●dried would be pineapples or Bananas  ●frozen is hands down Grapes but blueberries are so good too Missionary work is so sweet but it's especially sweet when we see the miracles that come from working hard.  So many things that show that this is God's work and the more willing we are to dive in and work, the more miracles we will be able to see !   Our friend Michael got baptized this week and he has really turned his life around ever since he found Jésus-Christ. He wants to help us in our missionary efforts so much that he brings all of his friends to church !   The same day my friend anaïs from my last area got baptized amd I'm so excited for them both taking this step towards their Savior 💗💗 Just bought a paris Olympics hat that I will for sure be wearing for the rest of my life  Love ...

This is only the beginning 7/21/24 🦎gecko poop🦎 We went to a house this week full of tissues and 2005 cleaning supplies! Including over 10 toliet cleaners. Which is extra funny because the bathroom probably had not been cleaned in 20 years. It was full of gecko poop (maybe?) Twenty years of dust, dead bugs, spiderwebs, a broken water drain that we couldn't use, an exploding toliet, and no AC or airflow! Not to mention my companion and I. Did I mention it was tiny?! Like so tiny to fit us both we needed to close the door? The sweat was real and it made me real grateful for when I do have AC! But yay for service opportunities! 🏀 exchanges🏀  Way back when many centuries ago (or so it feels) I was in the MTC with THE sister Goo! And now she is my sister training leader which means for 24 hours we got to work together! And it was my favorite! I learned so much, talked so much, and ate ice cream and 冰 (shaved ice)! Oh and on top of all that got very politley bible bashed and tr...

Tilted head biking🚴‍♀️🥸  @ALL I LOVE YOU!! I hope you all are doing grand and enjoying the summer heat! This whole month I have been wondering why my craving for Ice cream hasn't gone away BUT then one day we finally decided to look at the weather app and THEN it all started to make sense!! 🥵🍦🍦🍨🤩 So last week on Monday our friend took us and the Senior missionaries to a 廟 or Taoist temple and he taught us how to 拜拜 baibai or worship? It was actually so so cool to finally understand what people are saying when they say they are 拜拜的~  coming to Taiwan I've learned a lot about Buddhism and Taoism and it's really cool to see the culture of Buddhism and Taoism but going there made me so grateful that in our church we have a chance to have a personal relationship with God and that God wants to speak with us! We don't have to use wooden blocks to get answers to our prayer and that's life changing ❤️ We also got to go to Sister Ashtons Midpoint this week so we got to...

Well everyone this will be my last weekly email! It feels so weird that it's all ending after writing weekly emails for two years. This week has been a blast so I'll give you a run down on everything that happend! Last P-Day we went to Caaguazú which was really fun because we went with the rest of the zone. It was pretty fun. After it was awesome because I was able to go visit some members that I love from Caaguazu. Tuesday I was able to have my last district council, or my funeral. Then I went and did exchanges with Elder Pickett from Nevada. We worked in Villarrica and we honestly had such a good time. It was pretty cold. Wednesday was a day where I packed everything up and we went to a FamilySearch activity with our branch. It was really fun and we got to eat lots of empenadas. After a member took us out to eat! Thursday I got to eat burgers with the Gomez family who always feed us a ton. Then I went to the mission office and slept there. Friday was literally one of my fav...

NO Q!! 👍🌻🥸 You know in the Book of Mormon how it says occasionally how they couldn't write down everything that happened? Here's an example! Words of Mormon 1: 5 Wherefore, I chose these things, to finish my record upon them, which remainder of my record I shall take from the plates of Nephi; and I cannot write the hundredth part of the things of my people. Well 這是這樣子! That's exactly what happened this week and I don't think I can write a hundredth part... but I'll try! Feel free to not read all of this haha🩷 WE GOT TO GO TO FSY!!!! Okay this was one of the craziest miracles!! All of the youth in Taiwan got together and had FSY. There was over 600 youth there from all over Taiwan. About half of us  Gaoxiong missionaries got to go and we sang to them haha and then did some activities with them! Each pair of missionaries were in charge of 20 youth and GUESS WHAT!! When we went to go meet our 20 youth the FSY leader was Daxton Lin somebody that Calianne served wit...

I reread my email last week and it was filled with spelling and grammar errors! So I am sorry! This week I will try to be better but no promises because both my English and Chinese ability seem to be nonexistant! So 加油 you all are heroes for reading these!  💚 Kathryn 💚  This story is for all my missionary friends out there! We have a recent convert her name is Kathryn! She asked us if we faced a lot of rejection and we told her we did! She said before she was baptized she was standing next to a guy and the elders went and talked to him he rejected them and she was pleading in her head that they would come talk to her but they just walked away! So probably about a year ago she decided if the missionaries were not going to find her she would find them, she came to english group and at the end asked how she could join our church and she got baptized about 8 months ago (I was actually here for her baptism) so team do not forget! There are people out there ready! Do not le...

Utah Street What's poppin people of Gmail! Once again the great coming of an Elder Hennessey email has arrived! Boy do we got a fun one for ya! As you may be wondering what am I talking about, When it comes to Utah street? That ladies and gentlemen is the name I'm giving this one street because we are pretty much baptizing the whole street! It full of members now!  The real name is Phola Park (Pull-a-park). And this street has a wild backstory. So this story begins with a member referral. We came to church a few months back and a member came to us with 3 referrals for us. It was these 3 friends and they lived in a township quite far away from us. Long story short, we start to teach these 3 sisters and they were very elect. One of them her name is Lerato explained to us through time that she used to attend the church in another ward in Thaba Nchu. She was being taught by the missionaries and she was actually on date for baptism. But for whatever reason she left and she hadn...
