Sister Johnson: 7/22/24 & 7/29/24
Hey hey hey.
I'm sorry.
IM SORRRRYYYYYYYY!!!
I can't believe I literally didn't send out an email my first week here (face palm) but repentance is real. And I ask for everyone's forgiveness:)<3
Hello everybody!! Sister Johnson reporting from the Washington Spokane mission! Lewiston Idaho area:) Which is apparently the promised land (at least according to everybody I've talked to) so much has happened as you can probably imagine. My brain is constantly getting fried with all of the things I have to remember, learn, and do. Also with the heat.
Highs have been consistently in the 100°s. So that's been fun :p
The Lewi folks call it "fire season" which isn't an exaggeration because there are fires. We had some sisters on emergency exchanges last week for a few days because their area was on fire. They were all OK! But ig now that they are back they are getting lots of service hours in.
But yeah it's pretty smoky here:)
I am living in a cute little trailer on the bishops property with my trainer Sister Bates. Who is just a joy to be around. And if I could describe her with one word it would be "Wow!"
Not because she's particularly wowing, but because she says it all the time lol.
We have lovingly named our trailer home Gertrude because she is old fashioned and cute, but also can be unforgiving.
Specifically because she has an earwig problem:/
Lovely.
All in all I think I'm going pretty well for my first transfer! I'm not going to lie to you and say that it's all peaches and cream because it's not. Being a missionary is hard. But I have an amazing companion who is so patient with me. Super supportive mission leaders and fellow missionaries. And above all, a Savior who has promised to make a better missionary out of me than I could ever hope for.
Hopefully in the future I will have more time to be spiritually uplifting. But I just want to tell you all that JESUS IS AMAZING. HE LOVES YOU.
Also I have a Facebook if you wanna follow me.... just saying. I have been posting daily hymns and pictures of Jesus:)
Love you all!
I'm sorry again for not emailing until now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello hello hello everyone!
Here I am in Lewiston and it has been a crazy week! Oh my!
So you remember how I said it's fire season here?
:)
Yeah....
We got evacuated for like three days this week.
:(
We were blessed to be able to be at home when the warning came, so we were able to panic pack nearly all of our things before the APs (assistants to the president) called us and told us to just skedaddle.
We went to Pullman which is just across the border in Washington and stayed with our STLs (sister training leaders) for a couple of days. I hear most of the elders were out and about doing the work when the alarm when off so they didn't get to pack much. They told us that they slept on the floor in their white button up shirts. (Or rather, they laid on the ground with their eyes closed, because they didn't sleep.) So thank you God for mentor sessions:)
Anyways. Stress.
So far as I've heard everyone is fine. But there have definitely been some homes lost, so keep all my friends in your prayers!
Other than that, I've been making progress in my becoming a good missionary. But it's definitely been a slow process. I can only pray a prayer of gratitude for my ever patient and loving companion. And of course for my Savior, who has reminded me time and time again that His atonement is infinite. That If he wants to make something great of me, I can't stop it, despite all mine and Satan's best efforts:)
I have felt so strongly his love for me.
I know that he feels the same about all of you.
Read Romans 8! And Isaiah 42:16! And and and Isaiah 41:13!!!!!!
With lots of love, Sister Johnson:)
