Week 75: danny danny the motorcycle man Scout Benson Good late afternoon my friends :) Yet another crazy pday comes to an end. Such a fun week. Lets hear about it. :) We did tradeoffs this week which was fun as always. I stayed here in Lynn Haven and Hermana Rhoades came! She is originally assigned to Bolivia and is just waiting for her visa. Shes been out about 3 weeks and shes so sweet. From the tiniest town in Utah- graduated with 14 people!! So we had a super fun day of missionary work!! We went to Chickfila and Dairy Queen cause the closest of those were 2 hours from her at home!! Crazy crazy. But it was so fun!! We started teaching this little girl in our ward whose parents have just started coming back to church. Her name is Kadence and shes 14, and SO excited to learn about the gospel and get baptized!!  After trading back Sister J and I went and got an oil change, and we ended up being best friends with the guy that works there. Zack. He was so fun and nice and aske...

Monday, April 24, 2023 It has been a beautiful week in Georgia and the missionary work is going amazing. Our friend, Lisa, whom I told you about three or four weeks ago, continues progressing on her spiritual path. We have become quite good friends. She is coming to church each week, even though she has to go straight to work from church. She used to use work as an excuse for not coming to church, but now that she has the spirit in her heart, and has the desire to come to church and partake of the sacrament, we don’t hear any more excuses. This past week she even asked Elder Hintze and me to help her prepare to go to the temple. Preparing new members or returning members to go to the temple is a big emphasis on the work we’re doing. It is so exciting to see a person who has been a member of the church for years but has never been to the temple have the desire to receive the endowment that the Lord has waiting for them in the temple. In addition to Lisa, we have two other members who ha...

What a time to be alive! Spencer Neel <spencer.neel@missionary.org> Hello my friends and family!! I got in another bad streak of not sending emails but it’s ending. So much has happened these past few weeks and I hope I am able to sum it all up for y’all. Biggest thing to remember, God is so good, Jesus Christ is our Savior, and I love you all so much.  Transfers were three weeks ago and I am staying a fourth here in Lubbock. I am so thankful and blessed to have served in the Quaker Heights area for this long and I have loved every single minute of it. Easter and General Conference were absolutely amazing and I hope you all enjoyed them as well. Man remembering what happened is hard 😂 I’m probably just going to talk about this past week and all the rest can be sent through pictures.  We had the coolest experience with our new friend Tyler. We were out street contacting and he pulled up to us in his truck and asked if we were on a mission. We said yes and Tyler sa...

Hola mi familia y a mis amigos! This week really was a crazy one. Like always with its ups and downs and all the fun interactions with people, so let's just jump right into it. Tuesday I had divisions with my zone leader Elder Contreras which was a blast. This was my second time doing divisions with him and he is legit such a good missionary. I learned a lot from him and I learned so much about the importance of The Book of Mormon in our work. It was also to have a full day speaking in Spanish. Wednesday was a very long day. After we had lunch with a member we went and worked in an area and we probably talked to about thirty different people but no one wanted to talk with us or give us the time of day so it was a bit long. Then that night we had an English class that we are starting up and no one showed up so that was fun! Missionary Work haha! Thursday was a really good day. We organized many different lessons with our friends and members and there were just so many of them in o...

4/10/23 LET THE HOLY SPIRIT GUIDE   Wow wow this was an amazing crazy last two weeks of the transfer. General conference was absolutely AMAZING I especially loved elder gongs talk about ministering and my testimony of missionary work grew so much!! They are the same work and truly if every member kept every covenant and promise they made there would be no missionaries😶‍🌫️ but I am so grateful to be able to have this time that is absolutely jam packed with everything that is most important in life.  Fav quote from the week "The most important things in life are the things that last the longest" We had some amazing lessons and I could feel the spirit testifying through me. It's a crazy feeling when you teach with the spirit. We taught our friend Anthony the plan of salvation and it was on zoom and he was just waiting for his car to get serviced so it wasn't the most focused and we couldn't get to every point of the pos but we just testified that God has a plan f...

Aloha Friends & Family, Another two weeks have slipped by and we are finding that time stands still for no one. The past two weeks have been filled with so many blessings. Stacy has been doing her health advisor calling, helping with meals for zone conference, & filling in for mission leaders assistant. I work at the PCC in the motor pool, we are training to serve in the visitors center a few different shifts each month, and we are greeters at the PCC luau's several times each month. We love meeting so many different people from all over the world and sharing the gospel. Mike and Alaina Ewing visited us last week. So much fun to see our friends.  We love serving our community and the young men and women in our ward. We are in a YSA 7th ward, 2nd stake, Amazing Bishop Sameula Fakatou. Today is graduation and 14 members of our ward graduated. Such wonderful kids! There are kids out all of the time having fun playing and lots of roosters that never stop making noise on ...

¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos! This week was for sure a better week than last week. We pushed ourselves to be better missionaries and talked with everyone. I saw the power of fasting and praying on Sunday and all and all just a solid week. A long one but a good one. I know we are working hard when we are dead tired at the end if the day. Tuesday I did exchanges with Elder Halls from Arizona and it was so fun! Elder Halls has the same time as me so it is fun to compare our experiences of the mission together. He is such an expert of Spanish so it is fun to learn more and more from him and how to improve. I learned a lot how I can teach in better ways. Wednesday we had the awesome opportunity to do a big service for a member in our branch it was super fun. Then Thursday we worked with lots of members but the best part of the day is that is was so cold. Honestly it was only like 70 degrees but when it's usually 100 it is a dream to work in that weather. Friday we made a goal to co...

Week 74: The Finale Scout Benson Hello hello! another week has passed. Time is flying and honestly... i hate it. The lack of control I have right now is really frustrating, BUT im just trying to do the most with every second I have left. I feel like im in such a strange limbo right now and its SO weird. But also I literally dont think ive had this much fun my whole mission, or wanted to work harder. Crazy what the end will do to you. Well lets jump in to the highlights from this week. *que highlight reel* So we had zone conference this week on Thursday. Well I wanted to do the musical number one last time, so LAST thursday I was told I could do that. Which meant I had a week. I found a couple songs and signed up my friend Elder Thomas to play the piano :)) Well the piano did not work out. So we thought well maybe the guitar? Well the guitar was not working. And we kept thinking... if only we had a cello. Because Elder Thomas is actually insane at the cello. Come Tuesday we were l...

Howdy ya’ll!! It’s been a great week in Georgia. Spring has definitely sprung and it is beautiful and very green here. It’s so pretty outside that at our District Council this past week we decided to take our chairs outside and have our meeting in the church parking lot in the sun! If you know me, you know that the sun makes me happyѡѢѣѤ This past week we had two very special events that we had the privilege of attending. The first was our amazing Zone Conference. This was a special Zone Conference that included a temple visit. What an amazing thing it was to fill an endowment room with all of the full-time missionaries in our zone! Our session began at 10:00 a.m. and we were asked to arrive by 9:15. In order to travel through the rush-hour traffic in Atlanta, we left the house at 7:00 a.m. with our two Thomaston Elders. We were in our seats shortly after 9:15 with plenty of time to sit and take in the beautiful surroundings and contemplate the purpose of our magnificent temples and th...

Monday, April 10, 2023 Good morning, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. What a glorious day it always is celebrating the greatest gift ever given to mankind, the breaking of the bands of death for all by our Lord Jesus Christ! Last Thursday we conducted the Passover Seder that we had been so dutifully working on for weeks. In addition to writing the Haggadah (which means story, the book that tells the story of the Passover) and Elder Hintze creating a PowerPoint presentation, we spent the prior two weeks visiting people’s homes with personal invitations to attend. I wrote a Haggadah last year for our family Seder, but it was specifically written for the understanding of our four young grandkids. It had to be greatly revised for this purpose. The version I wrote for this program was more of a complete Seder. I told the Passover Story, opened the Seder with the blessing over the candles, sang the Hebrew blessings over the candles and the four cups of wine while Elder ...

Week 72: Conference Florida Style Scout Benson Hey hey hey! Yet another week has FLOWN by. This week was full of ups and downs. Miracles and pitfalls. Time to fill ya in.  We had a lesson with Maliah and Tanzi, and if all goes well they will both be getting baptized this saturday! Woo hooooo!! But pray hard for them because dang is Satan tricky and annoying.  Right after tanzi and maliahs we went to go visit a media referral we got. we had knocked the house last week, and no one had answered, but we felt good about it. so we went back to knock and realized we had knocked the wrong house! so we knocked the right house and we hear WHO IS IT? and we were like the missionaries! and we hear oh! then the door opens. and this kid is standing there and we go heyyy are you maliek? and he was like how do yall know my name? we told him we got a message saying he wanted to know more about Christ. he was like yeah! wanna come in? well we went and taught him a little about what we do...

Week 4 Hawaii Aloha Family and Friends, We just wanted to let you know that we have made another week and we are getting adjusted really well. Stacy is getting into her Mission Health Advisor responsibilities really well and is getting busier and busier. I have been getting to know the people in my area at the PCC and they are amazing. We were greeters at the Ohana Luau on Tuesday night and met people from all over the world. It has been such a great blessing to meet and work with people from different ways of life, cultures, & ethnicities. The spirit over here is amazing and the light of our Savior is evident in the people and the beauty of the surroundings. The impact of what BYU-Hawaii, PCC, The Visitor Center & The Beautiful Laie Temple have had on us and everyone who visits is unmeasurable.   We Love the Lord and we are grateful for this special time we have together serving this part of His vineyard. Aloha ia oukou a pau Elder & Sister Duncan

Monday, April 3, 2023 Dear family and friends, This is such a special time of year. I have always loved spring when the crocus begins to peek their heads through the snow and the evidence of the creations of God is in its greatest splendor. As a young girl, my family’s tradition during this time of year was to have a Passover Seder. I have such wonderful memories of gathering around the beautiful table my mother would set with my siblings, my parents, and my aunt, uncle, and cousins. Since I have come to understand and embrace the role of Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world, my Jewish heritage has gained even greater meaning to me. Passover is a remembrance and a celebration of the freedom of the Israelites from Egyptian bondage. Through His great gift of the Atonement, our Savior, Jesus Christ, has also blessed us with freedom from the bonds of death and has given us the gift of eternal life. In Matthew Chapter 26, we learn that Jesus told the disciples to prepare a place wh...

Don't worry, I'm still here! And I'm still in Tualatin! This is my 5th transfer in the branch and I'm so excited to serve here with Sister Blake a little bit longer.  I don't have too much time, but I want to share an experience of one of our friends Marilyn. She reached our through a Facebook come to church ad not knowing we were the LDS church. She said she kind of just found herself in this situation, but at the temple visitors center she explained that she has felt a specific spirit here, and that's why she's learning more.   By the power of the Holy Ghost we can know the truth of all things. Marilyn was able to feel that and I invite each of you to feel and look for that spirit too. I know you will find it.  I'm so excited to dedicate this week to my Savior and I hope you all continue to focus on him as well! He is Truth, he is light, he is love! Choose him  Te amo Hermana Gardner

4/3/23 Peacekeeper ¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos! Wow, this week was just a little crazy, everyone! I have traveled a lot this week so that was fun! Worked with members a lot and we also had the amazing opportunity to listen to a living prophet during a conference! I started off super crazy by traveling eight hours to Asunción to pick up my new comp. It is always so fun to go to Asunción because I get to see so many missionaries who I have not seen for a long time. Tuesday we got to do the training of all of the new missionaries and it was so weird being on the other side being a trainer. Introducing the mission to a completely new missionary. It is a very unique experience and I have already loved it so much this week and I can not wait to keep teaching and helping my comp with the things of the mission. We then had to travel back to Encarnación which is another eight hours so that was fun to talk and get to know my new comp. The next couple days were just a little crazy. I ha...
