Sister Benson: 4/14/23
Week 75: danny danny the motorcycle man
Scout Benson
Good late afternoon my friends :) Yet another crazy pday comes to an end. Such a fun week. Lets hear about it. :)
We did tradeoffs this week which was fun as always. I stayed here in Lynn Haven and Hermana Rhoades came! She is originally assigned to Bolivia and is just waiting for her visa. Shes been out about 3 weeks and shes so sweet. From the tiniest town in Utah- graduated with 14 people!! So we had a super fun day of missionary work!! We went to Chickfila and Dairy Queen cause the closest of those were 2 hours from her at home!! Crazy crazy. But it was so fun!! We started teaching this little girl in our ward whose parents have just started coming back to church. Her name is Kadence and shes 14, and SO excited to learn about the gospel and get baptized!!
After trading back Sister J and I went and got an oil change, and we ended up being best friends with the guy that works there. Zack. He was so fun and nice and asked us tons of questions. So that was a miracle!! Then we were able to go tabling at FSU with the elders and talk to a bunch of college kids. We met this Islamic guy and talked to him for like 30 minutes. It was AMAZING to hear how similar our religions are! There really truly is truth in ever religion. Anyways he was telling us it was the end of Ramadan and he gave us some really cool tips about fasting. He told us not to just make it about the food and the water, but to make it a holier day by just eliminating all distractions and focusing on God. Something Im excited to try!! Then of course we got to walk on the boardwalk the college has and look at all the crabs :)) Then we had an english class with Selvin. We love Selvin. He is slowly but steadily progressing.
We were able to meet with our newly baptized friend Evett from Jamaica. She is so sweet and we love her. She says shes gonna make us jerk chicken and a bunch of other Jamaican food!! Sooooo exciting.
One of our appointments fell through so we decided to just knock the apartment complex we were in. We knocked like sooo many doors and mostly people didnt answer but everyone who did said they werent interested. Including the guy who was SOOOOO high. So incredibly high. But anyways we were like okay we'll do just this row and then we're calling it. So we knock this door and this older hispanic lady answers. She was sweet and said shed be willing to listen to our scripture. Before we started she was crying, and when we asked why she told us that her mom had died the night before and that she knew we were angels sent from God. The Spirit was so strong. We shared Alma 7:11-13 and it fit perfectly. She told us we could come back and gave us her number. Thats Cecelia. We were so happy after that so we finished the row. And the next door answered too! A YSA aged girl named Summer who also listened and told us we could come back! SUCH miracles!!! We were amazed. God is so good!! We also met a guy named Ivan who said he wanted lessons too!! What a wild time.
Then we had a lesson with Danny who we found last week. He is SO SWEET. We love him. This was our second time meeting him and he told us that when we go home to keep his number and if we ever needed anything to text or call him. He has the thickest Louisiana accent, drives a harley, and has one gold hoop earring. We love danny. We really feel like he has potential to progress, and we feel like we will be good friends :))
And then pday!!! We were hanging out in our apartment complex playing some games and this lady walked in and so we started talking to her and her name is Andrea and she gave us her number! Then we were wandering a thrift store with the elders and THEY got someones number!! LYNN HAVEN POP OFF!! I love it here.
Love you all so much. Thank you for each week of support and love.
