baptism!!! Week 57: a christmas tree, a baptism, and TLC HELLOOOOO!!!!! hi :) this week has been full of miracles and touching moments. I love being a missionary.  I just never want to leave. lets get into it!!   Early this week we went to visit the Coles. Paula (the mom) was telling us how she has SIX doctors appointments between then (thursday) and Christmas, because Paula has cancer. They have been scrapping junk metal out of their yard to pay for doctors visits, gas money, the light bill, and food. So they dont have money to buy gifts or anything like that this Christmas. She told us how her and her husband had gone on a walk all over the place looking for a little tree they could cut down, so the kids would have a tree, but they couldnt find one. Well.... the next day we showed up with our fully decorated little tree. The kids were SO excited. they just kept saying we didnt think we were going to have a tree!! Sister Morley and I both cried later. Jesus didnt ...

Tis the Season Cooper Acor <cooper.acor@missionary.org> ¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos! Yesterday I just hit 5 months as a missionary! Super crazy how fast time is going. This week was definitely one of my favorites as a missionary. I started off the week very differently because I went on divisions with my zone leader. The thing is that my zone leader has something wrong with his knee so we worked on Facebook all day. We also did that for the next two days. So for three days I was on divisions hanging out with Elder Harris doing Facebook work but it was still super fun and productive. I also had the opportunity this week to have my interview with President Faundez that we have every transfer. It was super good and it was so cool not because I could understand everything he said and all the advice that he gave me. Finally I went back to my area to do normal work. We were really busy after my divisions cause we had to prepare for the baptism of David! David got baptized Sat...

6 meses!!!! Amanda Gardner <amanda.gardner@missionary.org> Wow these last two weeks have been a blur, but full of SO many miracles that help me remember that God's hand is in every part of this work.  The first crazy thing that happened was the English ward we were serving in got demolished! They switched up ward boundaries in the Tigard area and now the Cook Park ward is no longer (RIP Cook Park). So now we only serve in the Spanish branch and there are 2 companionships in the branch and we are not short of work to do.  We have so many friends who are SO close to making covenants with God! Some of them who need prayers are Asher, Isabelle, Arvalo, Mario, Cony and Ana Claudia. I know only they can make these steps closer to God and we are here to guide them and help them feel and recognize the Spirit. We had a really cool moment where I saw that very clearly.  We were going to visit our friend Michael ay the end of the day. We didn't know if he would be home ...

IN THE HEIGHTS  Kelsey Sumsion <kelsey.sumsion@missionary.org> We are now in antelopeeeee / citrus heights in the very south of the mission. We are right on the border so we have to be careful to not go out of the mission haha. It's super sad though because our ysa has their Christmas activity next week and we can't go because it's across the street from our mission border.  It is super awesome here! It's a tiny bit warmer and super rainy. I am never going to get used to snowless December but I'm going to come home and be miserable.  After transfers last week I went to Gridley again twice for a leadership meeting and Caroline's baptism so I haven't been able to spend a ton of time in my area but I know it's already epic. Our apartment smells pretty funky around 4:20 everyday and even at like 7am. Our neighbors have no chill when It comes to smoking weed.  Epic baller moments - Caroline got baptized!!!!! She wanted us all the clap when she came ou...

Week 56: the plague Scout Benson well.... here we are again. i know right? arent we all "sick" of this?? I know i am. You might have guessed it, you might have heard it, but we had COVID this week. Monday night Sister Morley started feeling sick and we tested positive on tuesday morning. Sister Morley mostly got it in the form of a sore throat, and i got hit hard in the chest and breathing department. We both slept like... all day the first couple days. Like literally. Then we were left with a lot of sitting around, staring at the walls and studying to do. People were SO nice to us. Bringing us groceries and meals and stuff. We were blessed.  We finally got out of quarantine on Sunday and got to go to church!!! Went from sweats and messy hair for a week to dressing up for church 😎 got checked out at church by a nurse in our ward who listened to my lungs and told me that I still have bronchitis. And covid. Which is why im having a hard time breathing. So..... im overjoyed a...

I'm officially a Spanish Elder 😎 Spencer Neel <spencer.neel@missionary.org> Hello everyone!! I hope it’s been an amazing past two weeks for you, it definitely has been for me. Elder Allphin and I have been able to get our area up and running and it has been a huge but amazing learning experience.  There’s been a lot of firsts in opening an area and even better, a SPANISH area. I got to do my first Spanish lesson, Sacrament meeting, dinners, basically everything in Spanish. I love it so much!!!! I still don’t understand much yet but I know the Lord has me here and the Spanish will come! We didn’t have an area book for the first week because for some reason it wasn’t in the system, so we basically became errand Elders for everyone else. Whenever someone needed something we didn’t really have much going on so we did it. We stayed busy but a different kind of busy. We were finally able to get area book this past week and have been able to do so much more missionary work! I...

¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos! This week was definitely different from weeks past. This week was hot. Here in Paraguay it gets up to 105 and it just doesn't go down all day. We sweat and just walk around and teach all day. It is difficult but everyday I feel successful and I know that I am doing the Lord's work. We just never stop drinking water. Also our apartment is set up a little bit weird so only one of the rooms in our apartment actually gets cold so we have started to study in our room. If you go into any other room you will start sweating so fast. This week I was able to go on divisions with Elder Orr which was very fun and I led the area and met with a bunch of our friends and put our friend Matias on date. He just needs permission from both of his parents so I will keep you all updated on that. This week we worked a lot with the friends that we have on date because they are the top priority. They are the closest to making this convent with God so we have to prepar...

Week 55: Walking on Water Scout Benson Hello from Lynn haven! More affectionately known as lynn heaven :)) this week has been so good just getting to know people and the area. Of course a new area is always hard because it's starting at ground zero and I miss my gainesville family, but I know I'm needed here and I've already seen that!!! So here's some miracles this week :))  - we went to invite a lady named denise to the blood drive. She had never let the sisters in and seemed uninterested. Well it was chilly when we showed up so... she invited us in!!! We just were getting to know her then she started asking questions. So we introduced the book of mormon and she was like "um... not interested in a book that replaces the Bible" so! We had some explaining to do and we ended up teaching the whole restoration!! By the end she had promised us to read the book of mormon! We came back 3 days later and she was in 1 nephi 11!! What a miracle!  - we had an awesome l...

From: Kelsey Sumsion <kelsey.sumsion@missionary.org> GOODBYE IS NOT FOREVER   As you can probably tell I am not staying in Gridley we got transfer news on Sunday morning and I am getting bopped over to antelope🦌! It is the very south of the south of the mission. I will be smack in the middle between Roseville and Sacramento. Plus ima be an stl which is crazy overwhelming and crazy exciting.  This week was a blur of craziness but here are some cool things that happened - I hit my three months two weeks ago!! We got some bath and body works and partied it up at institute and got some froyo.  - had a revelatory member dinner that was way too long but super super spiritual and awesome. We talked about marriage and temples and revelation it was epic  - ate a bagel at a Christmas lights church event thingy but I wanted it toasted so I used a screwdriver to hold it while I toasted it on a propane heater thing next to us. It was so tasty - sung a lot of Olivia ...

Working Hard Cooper Acor <cooper.acor@missionary.org> ¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos! This week has been so amazing so let us just get right into it. I do not have any specific stories of this week but just a lot of success to talk about. This week we put five different people on date and we are so excited! So we have Pedro and Nancy and they have a kid and her name is Liz. The situation with Pedro and Nancy is that they have to get married before they get baptized because they are living with each other. The good thing is that they want to get married. We are working with them and members in the branch to have their wedding and their baptism on the same day. They also have their daughter which should be pretty easy we will just have her be baptized with her parents. Next we have David. David is super ready to be baptized. He is thirteen and he has most of the lessons and he has permission from his mom to be baptized. He is also good friends with a girl in our branch so th...
