Dear family and friends, I know it’s been a long three weeks since I reported, but my oh my, how busy these weeks have been filled with wonderful events and amazing opportunities to serve. Over the past several weeks we have had an increase in opportunities to provide compassionate service to many people in need. A brother in the ward who is dying of cancer had surgery to remove cancer from his spine that would have paralyzed him if they had not removed it. So, although he knows that his cancer is terminal, he chose to have the surgery. We were able to visit him the day after he arrived home and take a meal to him and his family. He called us later that evening with so much gratitude for our visit. We also visited with a sister in the ward who is homebound. We took her a loaf of Elder Hintze’s fresh-baked bread and asked her how we could help her. Her son, who used to live with her, left a lot of junk behind that she would like hauled away. So, Elder Hintze is arranging for that ...

Happy Thanksgiving Aloha Ohana, Wow, time flies when you are having fun and staying busy. We have had our children and grandchildren visit, and it has been so much fun to see them, and everyone else who has visited, the Warren's and Brandi and Ray and we got to meet little Lanaya! We also got to see Danny Jensen get baptized. Wonderful blessings!    The past few weeks have really made me realize how grateful I am for family and friends who make our lives so much better. I didn't realize completely how much joy and love we share, until being separated for a few months. It has made me appreciate all of the fun we have hanging out together. I'm so grateful to our Heavenly Father who has made families central to His perfect plan. I feel His love for our family and others, the more I try to have His Son's influence in my life. I think that is what I love about our mission. That we can strive to focus on doing what Jesus Christ would do every day, knowing that we don't ...

Feliz Dia del Pavo! Hello everyone!  Another week FLEW by! This week we had lots of opportunities to teach and testify of Christ. One of the best parts about being a missionary is when those you are teaching truly understand a principle of the gospel and you can just see it click in their countenance. This week that happened with our friend Sonia. She currently has a date to be baptized and little by little has been learning more about the gospel. We asked her about how she is feeling about her baptism and she said she is nervous because she doesn't know if she is going to have the strength to stay strong even after baptism and do everything God asks her to do. The spirit directed us to share some scriptures in Mosiah 24 that talk about the STRENGTH we can find through Jesus Christ as we make and keep covenants: "And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in their afflictions, saying: Lift up your heads and be of good comfort, for I know of the covenant which...

11/20/23 ¡Vamos Héctor! ¡Haupei, Hola, Hey! Another week has come and gone. Time is so fast on the mission. I hit sixteen months as a missionary which is crazy. Two more and I've finish a sister's mission. This week really was kind of a blur so I don't think this email will be too long. Tuesday I got to do exchanges with Elder Bauman which was super awesome. He's such a good missionary. It rained a lot and we got so soaked. Our socks were soaked all the way through thirty minutes into working. We saw lots of miracles with finding some people in his area that he hadn't found for awhile. We then had a wedding and a baptism on Friday. Our friend Héctor got married so that he could get baptized! Then he got baptized and it was so awesome! He bore an amazing testimony. I'm really happy that he was able to make this decision. This Sunday he should be getting confirmed! Sunday we got stake conference. It was super good and there was a major focus missionary work so tha...

Adversity ¡Hola! ¡Hola! ¡Hola! I hope you all have had a wonderful week! I know mine has been a crazy one. Lots happened but at the same time not much. Something that was consistent all week is that it was about 100 degrees all week with over 50% humidity. Tuesday we passed by a ton of recent converts to see how they were doing. Many if them haven't come to church for a bit. Everyone single one of them was super happy to visit. Sometimes people just need a little visit or a message that you're thinking about them. Wednesday we had to wake up a bit earlier so that we could get on the bus to Asunción. Asunción from here is about seven hours in bus. We got to Asunción at around three and it was super hot. We headed to the mission office and we got to have a conference with Paul V. Johnson. He's in the presidency of the seventy. It was such a cool conference and it answered some questions that I had. I also got to shake his hand which was cool. This was a mission wide confere...

Wow, time flies!!!  I'm so grateful for every moment I have to serve the Lord. This week our mission president invited us to go back and read our call.  IF YOU ARE A MISSIONARY RIGHT NOW PLEASE READ YOUR CALL I was reminded of why I am here and who I am serving.  Some cool things this week - finding MIRACLES! We were lead to so many new people. One of them is the literal entire family of our friend marielena. She didn't come to church so we stopped by later and literally her whole family was there to check up on her bc she was sick. We were able to share a message about Christ's atonement with them and it was SO powerful! Teaching giant families is the best.  - member hype!! The members have been so involved and one of the members has been fellowshipping our friend sonia. This week, Sonia thanked her for being such a good friend. It was precious.  - learning about covenants. Covenants are amazing! They are literally how we connect ourselves to christ and ...

True Happiness and Joy ¡Haupei! I hope everyone has had an awesome week! I know mine was pretty dang good! I saw so many miracles in the work and I felt Christ's love for me so much. Tuesday we had a super fun district council where we did some scripture finding. That was a fun game to be able to see how well we know the scriptures and how we can apply them in our lessons. Our last lesson we had on Tuesday was with our friend Mirian. She has been slowly progressing to be baptized and had some challenges keeping her from being baptized but not anymore! She should be getting baptized this Saturday so we are super excited for her that she finally can make this covenant with God. Wednesday started off as a fairly hot day and then half way through it started pouring rain so that was a bit tough. Something with Paraguayos is that if it rains they're forbidden to leave there house. It gets a little difficult trying to teach. Thursday, like I said rain makes it difficult to work. Well...

I don't have a lot of time this week because I procrastinated sending this email today, so my bad 👀 I had a good week though! With the gray Oregon skies sometimes it's a little hard to stay motivated, but prayer and the new Youth Album songs get me through it. This week I learned about what a day for Jesus looked like. It amazes me all the things he did in His ministry in Jerusalem and in the America's. He saved. He healed. He blessed. He ministered.  As missionaries, we help our friends come to know him and to be saved, healed, and blessed by him! I'm very grateful.  Anyways, love you all!

Good morning, family and friends, Exciting things are happening both in the city of Thomaston and in the church in our area. The City of Thomaston does a spectacular job of showing civic pride. Every time we turn around there’s another festival. Last week they had their annual Fall Festival. We enjoyed the parade, which differed greatly from the parades I’m used to. Maybe in Oak City Elder Hintze saw parades like this, but in the parades I knew as a kid John Deere tractors didn’t lead the way with horse-drawn wagons following. It was a real country hoe-down! After the parade, we volunteered at the ward’s booth in the children’s section of the fair. Brother Hoopes built an amazing game of Donkey-pong where the kids shot water guns to try to knock ping-pong balls off of the poles that balanced on the heads of the wooden donkeys. I even tried my hand at shot once or twice. It was a really fun day! The work of the Lord continues in full strength in Georgia. I know every mission feels...
