Adversity
¡Hola! ¡Hola! ¡Hola!
I hope you all have had a wonderful week! I know mine has been a crazy one. Lots happened but at the same time not much. Something that was consistent all week is that it was about 100 degrees all week with over 50% humidity.
Tuesday we passed by a ton of recent converts to see how they were doing. Many if them haven't come to church for a bit. Everyone single one of them was super happy to visit. Sometimes people just need a little visit or a message that you're thinking about them.
Wednesday we had to wake up a bit earlier so that we could get on the bus to Asunción. Asunción from here is about seven hours in bus. We got to Asunción at around three and it was super hot. We headed to the mission office and we got to have a conference with Paul V. Johnson. He's in the presidency of the seventy. It was such a cool conference and it answered some questions that I had. I also got to shake his hand which was cool. This was a mission wide conference with everyone so I got to see so many of my friends it was awesome. I even got to see every single companion I've had on the mission! That also includes the four missionaries I've trained! (Pictures below)
Thursday we had to wake up and then head straight back to Ciudad Del Este. Another seven hours in a crowed bus. I definitely got some type of jetlag being in a bus for fourteen hours in two days.
Friday we were able to go out and work with our service missionary which was awesome. We were able to teach some of our friends who are progressing most. It was a good day and we ended it talking with our friend Mirian!
Saturday we had Mirian's baptism! Like always Satan tries to a attack me and I woke up sick but no importa. We were able to fill up the font about a quarter of the way but then the water was super yellow and dirty. So we had to drain it but our font drains super slow. So we ended up just filling up the rest of the font with clean water so it didn't look awful. We then had the baptism at around 6:30. Sadly not too many members were able to go but hey what can you do about that.
Sunday was an awesome day because we got to go to church and take the sacrament like always. Mirian was able to be confirmed and receive the Holy Ghost. We also had more than half of our recent converts come to church so that was awesome and showed that making our visits on Tuesday we super important.
This week was just a bit crazy with traveling and being a bit sick. Also with it being super hot that makes the work just a little bit harder. We call that adversity. That's what's gonna happen when we do things good, because the adversary the author of adversity doesn't want us to feel good or be successful. Something president Johnson taught us is that every missionary ever has had adversity and the best missionaries ever all had some of the hardest adversities ever. The apostle Paul was beat and had so many bad things happen to him and eventually was executed. Then you have the sons of Mosiah who were teaching for sixteen years before they had success, and at the exact point they thought about giving up is when they had their success. I think it's a good reminder to know that adversity is normal and it's even a sign that we are on the right path because Satan will try his best to get you off the right path.
Well that's it for this week! My thoughts were a bit crazy but every week goes by so fast and it's hard to remember everything interesting that happened.
¡Chau!
Love, Elder Acor
