OK so it all began last Sunday when our ward mission leader asked us if we would want him to take us on a tour of our area. He said that the three of us could bike around and he could point out some key members to visit, places to avoid, and people that were previously taught. This was a very kind offer of him, especially because we are opening a new area and know little to nothing about our area and have no dots (or people being taught) in our area book.  On Wednesday we met him at the chapelle and he had his MOTORCYCLE. Almost immediately he said," OK follow me." Then he took off so fast... we literally biked faster than we ever have and still could not keep him in view. After about a mile, he stopped on the side of the road for us to catch up, and then TOOK OFF AGAIN. It was actually quite the parade, because I'm not kidding you, every couple of blocks, random members of the Elders quorum would join in the line on either bike or motorcycle. We rode around Papeete lik...

Hey everyone!! I've had a lot of you reach out and ask what address to send Christmas packages too! I apologize I can't respond to each of you individually but this should do the trick! Since I'm moving, the best and safest place would be my mission office address: 5060 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27609 :)) Thanks so much y'all! Let's dive into the highlights of the week shall we? **Our Thanksgiving was oh so grand! We spent the morning sending thankful texts to all of our progressing and potential people, ward members, less active/part member families and stake presidency...wheew it was a lot but so worth it! We went to the Young's house for our first Thanksgiving feast and helped them set up their Christmas decor outside. We later went to a less active ladies house named Debbie Giordano and they don't believe in traditional Thanksgiving dinners so they made pizza, fries, pasta salads, ribs, steaks, corn on the cob and a cheese dip tray. It wa...

Lễ Tạ Ơn vui vẻ!!!  Woohoo things that I am grateful for this past week.  1. George. We had a 2.5 lesson with this man. But it was the most spiritual lesson. We love that man!  2. Exchanges with Hna Arizmendi-Ruiz. She is so funny and has the coolest story!  3. The restoration movie as a movie to watch at night! So good!  4. My new green coat my mommy got me so I could go knocking in the cold.  5. All the fun people I get to meet door knocking. Prepared or not prepared.  6. Kaleb! We literally were spiritually led to his house. Found him on the spot. He lived in house number 122. So had to be lucky.  7. The mouse that the elders killed while we were on the phone with them.  8. Hot chocolate bombs. We went and visited a member at a chocolate store.  9. The opportunity to teach the Plan of Salvation and seeing it just click. We really do have a purpose here on earth.  10. Thanksgiving!! And the greatest ward ever. They fed us t...

‘Tis the Season… What do you want to do with this special time of year? And as one of my wise sisters prompted… “What is on the “don’t do” list?” Here’s to finding and making peace and beauty in the days ahead. Comfort quilts Several Utah County agencies have an urgent need for quilts and bedding. These agencies assist women and children escaping domestic abuse, as well as individuals transitioning from homelessness to apartments. Our ward joined in the JustServe.org Comfort Quilts project. We completed 4 of the 5 quilts we’ve committed to donate. Michelle Laraway has graciously agreed to set up a frame at her house and have a final quilting bee on Thursday at 7:00. Come “bee” with us if you can to help move this project across the finish line. Your donations Wow! IHC, in partnership with other organizations and generous individual donors like you, collected 963 sets of crutches 333 canes 652 walkers 153 non-motorized wheelchairs Save the date The ward Christmas dinner will be he...

"ya'll teach so good you should be prophets" Hey guys!! This week was awesome!  Highlights: *two maintenance guys were able to come fix our heating unit and both times we were able to share more about what we do as missionaries and our beliefs that set us apart. Both times with Mack and Steven, we covered temple work, sacrament, baptismal covenants, Joseph Smith's experience and word of wisdom. All because they had questions and wanted to learn more. We invited them both to church and they said they would be down to come check it out. 4 hours of lessons in the bag!! *We had a lesson with John and were able to give him a book of Mormon after teaching the Restoration. He said he felt the spirit so strongly off of us he was convinced we were prophets XD.  *We found 7 new people in one day haha! That's a lot for Wake Forest so we are pretty excited! Sister Hansen is killing it at street contacting and becoming more bold at approaching people and teaching lessons on ...

Chào buổi sáng!!  Happy 3 days until Thanksgiving!!!  A couple of weeks ago I don't think I've ever gotten so many "no's" in my life. We got our first door slammed in our face, a full neighborhood of knocking that said no, all of our lessons fell through, and when we hard core church planned everyone said no to coming to church! (Who doesn't wanna come to church??) It sure makes a good story though!  There has to be an opposition in all things though right?  This week we were determined to find those who would come to church!! It could only get better from here right??  We knocked a lot of doors this week and got to meet awesome people! I even spoke some Chinese, heard something from the Qoran, and got offered orange juice.  The best though was Curious Geroge.  When we knocked George's door he let us right in. Had us sit down and offered us Strawberry milk and Muffins. He wanted to hear what we had to say. So we told him and committed him to rea...

As previously stated, I have absolutely no idea what's going on right now, but welcome to a montage via email of my life here in Tahiti. I am serving right in the city of Papeete and holy moly life is so wild, and this has hands down been the most fever dream-ish three days of my mission thus far, which is saying something:') My companion is Sœur iriti and she is so patient with me and makes me sing for her lol.  So after church we set up about 13 fatamaraa (this means dinner appointment and is the only word I picked out from all of our conversations). After each appointment was set up, Iriti would look at me very seriously and say," you are going to get fat." Ahhhh ahah I literally love her so much.  We have no ac and in case you are wondering, yes it is very hot. My hair is so poofy and I am so crusty all the time. Get ready for so many pics of the sweatiest sister missionary you have ever seen:) hags And by hags I literally mean have a good summer, because we...

Hey ya'll!  Hope everyone is doing well and had a FANTASTIC week :)) "And it came to pass that Sister Neel and Sister Hansen were exceedingly blessed for their many labors upon their feet as they walked from city to city, preaching the gospel to every nation, kindred, tongue and people that would give ear to God's word." ~ D&C 139 HAHA no just kidding. But we truly saw how many miracles come when we set out on foot and grind until the sunsets. President Maurer told me in one of my interviews that cars are the greatest curse to the mission and walking provides so many more street contacting opportunities as we walk to a lesson. I always thought it was funny advice until we tried it out this week and was amazed at the difference it made. The constant hills, frigid wind, swarms of bugs every 10 feet, sore leg muscles or crossing through downtown traffic was all so worth it. Our burdens were made light as we served with the mindset to talk to anyone and everyone tha...

Quilting Bee

Hello 7th ward sisters, This weekend, we received an urgent plea for help from our area presidency. They are asking for quilts and bedding for those who are transitioning from homelessness, children and women escaping abuse, and those most vulnerable to the cold. To answer that call, we have agreed to finish five quilts by December 15. We will begin by asking as many of you as possible to join us this Thursday night at 7:00 at our ward building to tie quilts. Young women and young men are also invited—as well as agreeable husbands. There will be refreshments and good company. We hope you’ll join…   We sure love you!   Your RS presidency
