RS Newsletter 11/27/21

‘Tis the Season…

What do you want to do with this special time of year? And as one of my wise sisters prompted… “What is on the “don’t do” list?”

Here’s to finding and making peace and beauty in the days ahead.

Comfort quilts

Several Utah County agencies have an urgent need for quilts and bedding. These agencies assist women and children escaping domestic abuse, as well as individuals transitioning from homelessness to apartments. Our ward joined in the JustServe.org Comfort Quilts project. We completed 4 of the 5 quilts we’ve committed to donate.

Michelle Laraway has graciously agreed to set up a frame at her house and have a final quilting bee on Thursday at 7:00. Come “bee” with us if you can to help move this project across the finish line.

Your donations

Wow! IHC, in partnership with other organizations and generous individual donors like you, collected

  • 963 sets of crutches
  • 333 canes
  • 652 walkers
  • 153 non-motorized wheelchairs

Save the date

The ward Christmas dinner will be held on December 9 at 6:00. Bring a friend, join your neighbors… the delicious food and festivities promise to help you feel the Christmas spirit!

If you would like to bring something for the meal but didn’t get a chance to sign up yet, check out what’s still needed here.

What we’re talking about

This Sunday Kimmie Knight will be leading our discussion of Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf’s talk, “Daily Restoration.”

We need an ongoing, daily infusion of heavenly light. We need “times of refreshing.” Times of personal restoration.

In preparation for our discussion, you might think about what personal introspection looks like for you and how often you take time for it.

What we’re reading

This week our Come Follow Me reading is D&C 135-136, “He ‘Has Sealed His Mission and His Works with His Own Blood.’”
