Sister Koger 11/22/21

As previously stated, I have absolutely no idea what's going on right now, but welcome to a montage via email of my life here in Tahiti. I am serving right in the city of Papeete and holy moly life is so wild, and this has hands down been the most fever dream-ish three days of my mission thus far, which is saying something:')

My companion is Sœur iriti and she is so patient with me and makes me sing for her lol.

So after church we set up about 13 fatamaraa (this means dinner appointment and is the only word I picked out from all of our conversations). After each appointment was set up, Iriti would look at me very seriously and say," you are going to get fat." Ahhhh ahah I literally love her so much.

We have no ac and in case you are wondering, yes it is very hot. My hair is so poofy and I am so crusty all the time. Get ready for so many pics of the sweatiest sister missionary you have ever seen:) hags

And by hags I literally mean have a good summer, because we're headed into the hot season here! There are chickens everywhere, so it feels like home! I wish I could explain how unique this city is, but I would not do it justice. Everyone drives a motorcycle and you can look left to see the most green, giant mountain you have ever seen, and then right to the OCEAN. It's definitely a busy city, and last night when we were walking home in the dark, Iriti grabbed me and told me to walk very fast, because the people arguing behind us were starting to get violent:/ Papeete has so much character, and I cannot wait to find my footing here.

On a more serious note, this is by far one of the hardest things I have ever done. I loved being a missionary in Fresno, and knew what I had to do to be successful there. I came to know my Savior there and will always remember the sacred experiences I had in the Central Valley. Coming here, I have no clue how to tell people how much I love Jesus Christ and how much his Gospel can bless them. It is a really helpless feeling, but I do know that I am where I need to be. A year ago I opened my call to come here and I felt the strongest sense of love for the people here. I have that again, along with the strongest desire to help them in any way that I can. For now that might just be by giving them a big smile and wave and shouting "IAORANA" at the top of my lungs. Heavenly Father needs me here for a reason.

I'm so sorry that this email has no rhyme or reason, but know that I love every one of you and God does too;) our Wi-Fi situation is a little difficult, but i would love to speak in English in with you<3 or if you want a Tahitian letter, I could possibly do that.

*the stamps here are literally so cute, 10/10 recommend.
