Transfers and Flooding ¡Hola, hola, hola! This week was one of the longest and shortest of my mission. I think about what happened this week and it feels like it was a month ago but at the same time I can't believe that it's already Monday again. Tuesday I got to do exchanges with Elder Bryner in Presidente Franco! Elder Bryner is the Elder that I got to be comps with for a week when I had Covid in the MTC. This was the first time I was able to actually work with him in the field which was super awesome. It was fairly raining this day so honestly not many people accepted us, but hey we continued and tried to get some solid lessons in. It was good to catch up with him and see how he's doing. Also I finally ordered a scripture case for my scriptures so be looking for that in the next two months. Wednesday was a super solid day. We got to teach a lot of our friends and get them to make commitments now we will just have to see if they keep them. We also finished off the day go...

Choose Joy! ¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos! This week like pretty much every week here on the mission was crazy. So much happened and we saw so many miracles so, like always, let's get right into it. After P-Day last week we were able to go to Elder Fernandez's area which is Ciudad Del Este 6. We went to go to the baptism someone he has been teaching who's name is Jon. He's fifteen and he was so ready to be baptized. It was such a fun and spiritual experience like always. Tuesday I was able to do exchanges and go to an area called Presidente Franco. I went with Elder Vilches who is from Argentina. I had a really great time with him and I'd say a highlight was doing service for a really old couple that couldn't really help themselves. We decided to clean up there front and backyards. That turned into us also finding a huge tree branch that had almost fallen into their bathroom. That was fun moving that and breaking that up. It really made me feel the true love ...

Dear friends and family, We’ve had a very busy few weeks and exciting things are happening in this little corner of the Lord’s vineyard. Last Saturday we had a convert baptism, the first one in the Thomaston ward in five months. Elder Hintze and I had taught Brother Smith several times, and he had been taught previously by other missionaries. He lives with his brother who is a member of the church. But he never really took to reading the Book of Mormon or grew interested in living the principles of the gospel, so we eventually stopped teaching him. But one night we went to their home to visit his brother and we found Brother Smith aglow with the light of the gospel. He was so excited and animated as he went to get his Book of Mormon and show it to us. When the new Sisters came to Thomaston, they were able to reach him in a way no one else could. That proves to us that the Lord is in all the details of our lives. He knew exactly who Brother Smith needed to teach him, and those sis...

Our mission is to bless 🙏💙 This week we had a member of the 70 come to our mission to do a mission tour (which basically means we have a bunch of meetings and he teaches us a lot if cool things). His name is President Bragg (he spoke in the Oct. 2022 conference).  I think one of my biggest takeaways was the title of my email: Our mission is to bless!  Everything we do as disciples of Jesus Christ is to bless the family of God. That was and is His mission as our older brother, savior, shepherd, etc. It makes life a lot simpler and more meaningful. So, this week I invite you to pray for and seek opportunities to bless others. I promise you will feel greater happiness, hope, purpose, and peace in your life. If I'm being honest, this weekend after the mission tour was a little bit harder. If I had a graph of energy/joy levels they were pretty peak when Elder Bragg came and then went pretty low afterward. Lots of friends canceling on us, choosing different paths, things lik...

¡¿Trío?! ¡Hooooooola! ¿Haupei, Cómo están? This week was sure a crazy one. Feels like last Monday was a month ago and at the same time yesterday. This week was a well full of miracles and lots of growing. Tuesday was a super good day just some good old fashioned missionary work. We went and passed by a ton of our friends but none of them had time or they didn't want to share. We were able to pass by a few recent converts and we were able to clean one of their patios. Then we went to church to teach our friend Hector! We talked to everything about baptism and now he's on date to be baptized the 18th of November! They are going to get married the 17th too. I'm super excited for them! Wednesday I was able to do exchanges with our zone leaders. I stayed here in my area with Elder Gunderson who's from Lindon, Utah. He's super awesome and has one less transfer than me in the mission. He's awesome and knows a ton. I learned a lot from him in what I can improve and how...

HALLOWEEN IS PAGAN   What up party people!! Life is going great up here in the boug of rocklin CA. Not a whole lot of people want to talk to us but the members here are unreal and so so so kind and caring and although it's hard to spend all of our time trying to find someone to teach I know I could always knock on a members door and get a water or snack or whatever.  At one of our member dinners last week we went way up in the hills where there are tons of gated communities and pulled up to this absolute mansion for dinner. They were a super cute family and we were there for a long time cause their kids were all going crazy and it took a long time for them to settle down but they gave us a tour of their house and it was insane. Their gym literally came with a platonic and their pool and hot tub and slide looked like a Hawaii resort. Right before we left the dad was talking about holidays and he was like yeah we don't really celebrate Halloween because it's pagan. 👀👀 W...

Paciencia ¡Haupei! I hope you've all had a fantastic week! I know I've had a good one even though it was kind of a little bit everywhere. Lots of things happened this week so I am going to try and hit the best things. This week we did a lot of finding. Somedays were for sure better but we found some solid people that may progress and we can help them. Finding is fun but sometimes tiring but it is a solid way to build patience. Something I've learned a lot about here in the mission. Sometimes we just need to keep going with faith. This Thursday I was able to have an interview with my mission president, President Faúndez, he's super amazing and inspired. It's always really good to hear his advice and get a little boost to my moral. He gave me nice advice about learning from my mistakes and trying my best. Friday we then had our zone conference which I loved like always. President Faúndez talked about the importance of The Book of Mormon and how we need to use it as m...

#consecrationnation Hello hello everyone!! (The hashtag is for our zone haha) This week was super crazy. Every moment as a missionary just flies by! I learned a lot this week about focusing on Jesus Christ and (quoting our mission president) Repent Reset Refocus Probably the craziest part was our friend Daniel. He is this 24 year old that has been here in the US for like a year and is just the most wholesome dude. He was feeling ready for his baptism, and then a few days before sent us a text letting us know that he won't be getting baptized because his dad was super angry when he heard about it 😔😔 We were not giving up there though. We tried contacting him and the day of his planned baptism we were able to talk with him and invited him to the elder's friends baptism.  He went and loved it and we have been inviting him to pray about it. He finally did last night and just texted us today that he felt SO good praying about baptism!!!  Miracles. ✨️✨️✨️ Stay tuned... I've ...

LAST WAGON   Hi friends and family! Conference weekend was so good! Last Friday we had transfers and I was very sad to say goodbye to yuba city and Sister horsley and all the amazing missionaries and members there. I will always have a special place in my heart for yuba.  I am now in rocklin! It's a very bougie area with lots of super nice homes. It has been knocked many times and the people we are teaching are mostly already members but trying to come back. There's not a whole lot of convert stuff but lots of love and member support.  We have a car and we get to listen to music in our cars now so we Wilding out here. I love ittttt Because I'm here, I'm not training or stl for the first time in almost a year and i have started to feel like the last wagon in the train but I'm trying to make the best of it and relishing in not having any extra responsibilities. I just get to chill :) by being your regular old missionary.  Invitation this week is to humble...

Tuesday, October 3, 2023 Hello, everyone! You didn’t hear from us last week because we had the incredible opportunity to fly home for a brief visit to meet our new grandson, Cole Michael Schwartzman. The visit was fast-paced and wonderful! We spent lots of time with Cole, gathered with almost all of Jerry’s kids and grandkids on Friday, watched four grandsons play football on Saturday, and attended church with Emily’s family on Sunday. Spending time with our kids made me realize even more, if that is even possible, how precious these eternal relationships are to me. However, the interesting thing is that by the end of the week, we began feeling a pull to return to Thomaston. We know that this is where we are supposed to be for this period of time as we complete our commitment to serve the Lord for one year. We returned at 12:30 a.m. last Tuesday and jumped right back into our missionary work a few hours later on Tuesday morning. We had a Come Follow Me lesson to teach the evening...

Hermana G in the Dirty G 🤪🤪 Hello hello everyone!! Sorry it's been a while, and a LOT has happened!! First off I moved areas! I was super shocked at transfers to find myself moving to Gresham (nicknamed the dirty G) and leaving Sister Acabal in Hillsboro. My new companion is Sister Harris, who I already served with for 3 transfers as her STL and now we are compis.  Definitely hit the ground running this transfer. We had zone conference and it was awesome. I love president and sister botchway. I love the ward and the friends here. We have already seen some amazing miracles. Some highlights have been our friends daniel and javier.  Daniel is this wholesome 24 year old who has been in the states for like 2 years and has a strong desire to learn and just do good. He watched conference with us on Sunday and really loved it. Javier is this man who works with a member of the ward and recently lost his wife to cancer 6 months ago 😔 He says everytime he comes to the church to...

loha Nui Loa Ohana, It has been a few weeks since we last reported on our mission. There has been so much going on in our mission. We have the 60th Anniversary of the Polynesian Cultural Center, with so many activities associated with this fun celebration. I have been helping clean up and get things ready. It starts on October 8th with a devotional and ends on October 12th. It is amazing how the community comes together for these activities. They truly honor and love to show their appreciation for their forebears. I'm so grateful for all that they have taught me about the things that matter most.  Stacy picked up right where she left off, helping everyone she comes in contact with. The young sisters love her and sometimes I think they play like something is wrong so they can talk to her. All of the missionaries young and old are pretty amazing and we have grown to love them all so much! We love serving in the temple visitors center, & PCC where we talk to so many people f...

Think Celestial ¡Hoooooooooola! This week was a crazy one. My weeks have been going one chill then one crazy. Now we get to here the craziness that happened this week. I can start off with last Monday. We got to go a huge mall here called Shopping Paris. That was super fun and chaotic. Security got called on us cause they thought we were there to preach but we were just there to chill and go shopping. I bought a super cool Paraguay jersey and I bought skittles which were so good. Tuesday was a super good day. I got to go and do exchanges with one of the Elders in my district. His name is Elder Sego and he's from Texas. He has one transfer less than me so he's got some experience. It was super fun. It was also fairly hot this day but we had some awesome lessons. The other Elders had a fun experience with stepping on a rusty nail and going to the hospital so I think we were chill. Wednesday was a normal solid day of work. Thursday we did emergency exchanges because one Elder was...
