Hey yall! what a wonderful week it has been. sunny and rainy, Spirit filled and change filled. lets get to it.  the beginning of this week i was ONCE AGAIN sick. fun thing about being a missionary is that youre around everyone, and if anyones sick guess who gets it. The missionary. Plus apparently my immune system is past garbage so... if anyone has any tips on that im open to suggestions. But! It was still good. Sister Doxey and I taught lessons and did service and packed like crazy 'round here. Sister Doxey was trained in this area, so its her first time being transfered. so she had TONS to pack. that always happens I guess. Sister Doxey truly went out with a bang though because on Wednesday night- her last night in Gainesville- we went to mutual. We've been trying to have a focus on showing the youth that missions and missionary work is fun. The obvious thing is that missionary work moves forward the best when members are involved. And members dont want to refer their goo...

¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos! First week of online MTC was a major success! I really did not know what to expect from online MTC like how it was going to work, how I would feel about it but this week was truly amazing. Our first day we started off with an amazing workshop where they talked to 300+ missionaries about how online MTC would work and how we are going to utilize it. This really put me into the mood and got me excited to start to learn. We then got to go into our first morning class where I met my teachers Hermano Santiago and Hermano Mendez. They are both such amazing teachers and they truly have the spirit with them and teach directly from it. This is the time that I was also able to meet my district. There are twelve Elders in our district and half of us are going to Paraguay and the other half are going to Texas. Everyone works well together and we all have been working hard this week. I then had the opportunity to meet my companion Elder Allred. He truly is a ble...

Hola hola amigos y familia!! It is my last week at the CCM so next time you hear from me I'll be in the beautiful land of Portland! This week has been awesome, and also a little bittersweet, we were able to go to the temple again. There's a giant Christus at the visitors center and we got to listen to a message in Spanish about Christ that was super good. highlights> 1. jenga! My family brought jenga to class so we played it while practicing Spanish words. Thanks fam! 2. charades, watching someone try to act out humidity is absolutely hilarious! 3. English fast! This saturday our district went 24 hours speaking zero english. Wow it was hard, at dinner I was trying to talk about the movie "cloudy with a chance of meatballs" in spanish and almost started crying jaja, but I really felt the lord strengthen me and bless me with the gift of tongues that day. Ever since then, my Spanish has come so much more naturally! 4. Humberto! This is the gardener who gave us a bun...

This week we had transfer calls! And yes its true!! Ive been asked by President Elbert to train a new missionary here in Gainesville. Sister Doxey is getting transfered to a tiny town called Starke, Florida. With about three stoplights and one cop that pulls everyone over. She seems excited!! So prayers for me and for the new sister. I wont find out who Im getting until Thursday at transfers! Wild.  This week was a good one. We met a wonderful amazing woman named Nyaja. She requested a bible from us. So we went over and gave her a bible and talked about her relationship with God. She has such beautiful faith, and wants to come to church! So that was a good first contact, and then the second time we met with her we introduced the Book of Mormon!! And she was so so excited about it because now she had MORE ways to learn about Christ!! We love Nyaja :))  On Friday Sister Doxey and I were once again asked to fill in for the sunday speaker. But at least we had more notice th...

ONE MONTH IN! hola amigos y familia!! The CCM is still just as magical as last week and so far still loving it. The weather is constantly amazing and so is the spirit. Since they are going to build a temple in the CCM, it has been dedicated as temple grounds which is really cool. Speaking of temples, we got to go to the Mexico City temple this week which was the highlight for sure!! It was absolutely GORGEOUS there I couldn't stop staring at the temple haha. Inside was so so stunning and unique. I absolutely loved all of the artwork. We did the whole session in spanish which was absolutely amazing. The spirit was so strong as we did endowments and throughout the entire process I absolutely loved it. I hope I can come back some day and do it again because it is absolutely amazing.  Second cool thing was I got to lead the choir for Tuesday devotionals and hermana mapes got to play the piano! I will say, we are the dream team. We sang "Yo Se Que Vive Mi Senor" (I know that...

(Grab your tissues!  This is powerful!  Thank you for loving and supporting Alaycia.  It means the world to our family! ~Jeni) Hello to my dearest family and friends, Cheers to 18 months, 13 beautiful companions, 5 areas and one incredible mission that has changed my life completely. The Lord walks the lands of NC, He's felt here. And I have loved this journey right alongside Him. I am so incredibly happy and feeling so blessed at what I got to experience.  I love North Carolina. I love the green trees, the ability it has to make you feel like you live in the jungle. I love the Southern hospitality and the way you could meet a stranger and 15 mins later they're your life long friend. I love the beach, the sweet salty air and sunsets that light the water on fire. I love the spirit that is carried amongst many Christian believers. I love the country lands and the corn fields that go on forever. I love the motto NC stands for, first in flight. I love the humid ai...

Week 34: You're the Inspiration Earlier this week we heard that song on someone's radio or something. And its been stuck in my head the rest of the week. Good old Chicago. YOURE THE INSPIRATION!!!!!  Hello wonderful people!! The work in Gainesville moves ever forward. This week honestly there isnt a lot to share. We went through our whole area book and we're working on calling/visiting everyone. Its a mess. So that has taken a lot of our time! But hey the Lord provides and its been great.  We've gotten SO MUCH rain this week. Meaning we've gotten rained out of visits, lessons, and finding. But we're doing our best to show the Lord we are trying.  One cool miracle we had this week was trying to find people in one of our towns, Newberry! So we were walking around and talking to people. And no one was interested. We found this fruit stand and started talking to the man running it. He was a very gruff guy. Not very friendly. But we started telling him about what w...

What's good everybody !! Life in Jacksonville is the good Life. The miracles we saw this week were absolutely life changing in every way possible. We got out of quarantine Friday morning which is an absolute DUB. It was all left to me to test negative and if I didn't, then that meant another 3 days in quarantine. We prayed as a companionship that night and then I tested the next morning after I woke up. When the results came back negative, I literally cried. 14 days later, WE WE'RE FREE 😂 we called the district and everyone cheered so loud. AHHHH they were so pumped. Our missionary friends joke that Jacksonville legit didn't feel the same with us away but the moment we stepped out of our door, a pure sense of happiness returned and miracles resumed in other areas haha!!  All seriousness tho....it never felt so good to get in a car and drive through businesses, be at the church again, talking face to face with people 24.7 or ward activities/popsicle runs with the dist...

What's up what's up!! MISSIONARY WORK IS AMAZING!!!!! BEING A REPRESENTATIVE OF JESUS CHRIST IS AMAZING!!!!! HELPING OTHER PEOPLE FEEL TRUE JOY IS AMAZING!!!! You can call me the happiest Lil bean out there cause my oh my I love my mission. I love the opportunity I have to be the Lords hands, to help move a work forward that is changing the world. Changing hearts and uniting families. There is power in serving and dedicating my heart to a gospel that continues to shape my life in ways I never imagined possible. I LOVE the opportunity I have to be a witness and share my testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I go amongst the people and feel such a powerful love for each individual and immense desire for them to learn, to feel as I have and grow. People in Jacksonville say I'm the happiest person they've ever met. I can link that joy back to the fundamentals and principles taught long ago when I was young and growing to become something close to the amazing e...

Hello my wonderful people!! This week was full of ups and downs, as missionary life usually is. We delt with many sad misuses of Gods divine gift of agency this week. But we had some good lessons. As of this week we are no longer teaching Michelel, which is really sad. But we did have an awesome lesson with our friend David about the Plan of Salvation that went super well! Please pray for the work to move forward in the Gainesville 2nd ward area, we're at a little bit of a standstill haha, and we could use it!!  Today is the 4th of July! How grateful I am to live in this beautiful country. With its mountains (that I miss) and its swamps (that I seem to be surrounded by). I am so grateful that God created this country so that the Restoration of the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ could start. So that young Joseph Smith COULD ask his question. So that the Book of Mormon-- which is the word of God-- could be published. God lives! And He guides us as his church. Hopefully...

hola amigos y familia  Bienvenidos a méxico!! It's my first week at the ccm (mexico mtc) and WOW it's amazing here! Leaving my family was hard, but worth it (sorry fam) Everyone is so nice saying hola all the time and it's been so fun hanging out with my district in person. The mexico mtc is the best place to learn spanish, my vocabulary and listening skills have already grown so much it's insane!! When I met my companion hermana mapes on the plane I knew it was a match made in heaven. I'm so glad that we're companions.  Some spiritual stuff - really feasting on the words in the scriptures is SO powerful!! I love reading with my district and learning more about how we can become like Christ. We were reading about Alma when he was kicked out after teaching and then visited by an angel. God helped me realize that in hard times, like Alma, we are reminded of our own conversion and how much we love the gospel, and because of that love and testimony, we can keep mo...
