Elder Gardner: 11/20/24

Dad went for milk. I picked up my son.

Kia ora. This week had some new changes. My dad left me to go up north and I picked up my son on thursday. So its all pretty exciting.

Tuesday: we went over to craigs per usual, and we had a good chat with him, he was sad to hear that Elder ORiordan was leaving. Later that day, we said some goodbyes to some families and it was all pretty good. This is also the night when transfer news came out and i found out that I was training. I thought that I wouldnt be becuase i never got a call from pres a few days prior and all the other trainers did, so maybe he just forgot to call me idk lol.

Wednesday: we had dcm, played some jeopardy, our team got last place haha but it was still good fun. I also had an online trainers meeting, which was minimally informal but still good lol. In the afternoon we just said some more goodbyes to families. We had a car tho because we took it off an elder who had just gone home. Having the car was super nice, cuz we could just get around so quickly.

Thursday: transfersssss. We got up and got going. We had to do some car exhanges and swaps to get everyone to the mission office and I made it just in time to pick up Elder Yapi. Elder Yapi is my new son, hes from Papua new guinea and he is super cool. We went through all the new missionary tasks and then we caught a ride back home. When we got home, we unpacked and of course the first lesson for Yapi had to be with Jessica, the lady who thinks shes god. So that was fun. That night, after dinner, we went to Brownies and talked with her. She said she needed more food for this week, so we gave her our leftover chinese food and said we would drop of more food tomorrow. Other then that, the day was good. Elder Yapi already served for 3 months in PNG while waiting for his visa, so he already understands all the lessons and stuff. We just have to work on bike riding, the PMG app, and door knocking. Becuase he didnt do that in PNG.

Friday: our morning was normal, we got brunch with christine and antony and then we came back and did some weekly planning. We then had a lesson with Tito. We taught her the plan of salvation and she loved it. Elder Yapi shared some great scriptures and it was great. After that we got some food to Brownie, and we were given some food too, so that was a blessing, becuase our fridge was basically empty lol. Anyways, we had another little lesson with this lady Lora. We taught her some more and stressed the importance of reading and praying about the BoM, so hopefully she will get onto that.

Saturday: during the morning, we got called up to do some service which we are always keen for. We also got the ZLs to come help. We just helped this member move some furniture. After we finished, she gave us heaps of food. She didnt need it becuase she was moving up north, she had no place to put it, so now we have more food then ever before, definitely a blessing. After the service, we tried do make some contacts and lessons but they fell through, so we just did some knocking.

Sunday: we had ward council before church and then we had the primary program at church today, that was so sweet. I love the primary music. After church we had a linger longer, so that was some nice free lunch. We did some door knocking before we had to get back to the chapel for the seminary graduation program that the missionaires were singing at. We sang "I am a child of God" and somehow we will managed to botch that one lol. Oh well, we are missionaires, not singers. That was basically it for sunday.

Today we are planning on doing some shopping and then probably going to the chapel. It should be good.

I definitely dont feel prepared for training. Im glad that my son already has some missionary experience before coming out here. Im excited to help him get more comfortable with door knocking and talking to people. English is his 2nd language, but he speaks it super good, and he is such a humble guy. Hopefully the lord can use me to teach him the things that he needs to know to be a great missionary!

Ka kite ano!
