Sister Calianne Skinner: 8/4/24
Pancakes!!
I've got some sad news!! You know how I said there was taro ice cream!? I lied!! But don't worry it wasn't on purpose I know the ninth commandment! Because the purple ice cream I thought was taro was actually grape! But besides that devastating news this week was good!! Let me tell you about it!!
We had a lesson with a referral we had been trying to get in contact with for a while that showed up to church last Sunday and so we got to meet with him!! He told us that he has never loved the buddhist/daoist thing they've got going on here and wanted to learn about God! Good thing that's what we as missionaries do!! So we had a lesson and as we were describing the Godhead he stopped us a couple time to ask us some questions including "how do I pray?" "Why should I read the book of Mormon?" And "is there church this Sunday?"! It was my favorite thing ever!!! YAY for Leo!! And questions!!
The other BIG news of this week was transfers!! Sister He left me to go to danshui! But Sister McCullough came! Along with other big structrual mission changes and an only sports drink diet it has been an interesting week!! Including trying to explain germaine and tangible but I don't even know if germaine is a word!! Is it!? And a lot of alone time as my comp tried to rest up to get energy from something other than sport drinks!! But these next six weeks are going to be amazing!! And I'm so pumped!!!!!
Other highlights:
🥞Sister He is a beast at making pancakes! She even said so herself!!
🐎I lifted a life sized baby horse (it was fake dont worry) to a ledge this week!! So now it gets to watch over the house of tissues!
🎹the worst reedition of God be with you till we meet again! Singing in Chinese be hard man!!
As we street contacting this week I saw a foreigner so in English said "hello how are you?" He then responded and proceeded to talk to us for the next hour about what he believes, his experiences, and bought us drinks (the passionfruit juice ones from 7) at the end I shared some of what we believed and he stopped me and said what does that mean to you that Jesus lives? So I want to end with that!!
Jesus lives! And what that means to me is that 2000 years ago he came to earth and lived a perfect life! He gave us a perfect example! Served others, healed others, ministered to others, taught others, and loved others! He did something so incredible that 2000 years later the world is still talking about it! And 2000 years before they were also talking about it! Because for us he died! For us he suffered! For us he ressurected! So much pain that he said even I trembled and bled at every pore! And he did it for everyone the sinners and the saints! The ones who killed him, the ones who reject me on the streets, and the ones who worship him. But most importantly he did it for me! And he did it for you! And because he did that I will always have a friend no matter the heartbreak, the homesickness, the defeat, the stress I go there, He is always there! And Will always be there to succor me and to take this yoke with me! And those two, what seemed like unconquerable challenges, sin and death! He overcame those to! Because He loves us!! And that is something that needs to be shared with the world!!
He loves you!! And so do I!!
