Elder Gardner: 8/12/24 & 8/19/24

The MTC is definitely getting old.
8/12/24

Kia ora everyone.

Its crazy that its already been the 2nd p day at the new zealand mtc. Im more then halfway dome with my time here at the mtc so thats exciting!

After elder wihongi left last week and we invited elder richardson into our trio and that has been good. It took a little for him to get used to a trio but we are all having a great time now!

The days are getting repetative haha. We wake up and eat and exercize and then study. After study we do door knocking practice and then eat lunch and then after that we have classes until dinner and after dinner we have classes until bedtime lol. Classes can be boring especially with some of my teachers. No offense to sister T hahaha.

We got to go to the temple on thursday and that was super fun. The hamilton temple is really small and really pretty. Plus its full of old people haha.

Today we got to go to the mall which was a major blessing. After being in the mtc these past 2 weeks, it starts feeling like we are stuck in here, so its nice to get out. I also got to get the stuff that i forgot at home so thats nice.

Other then that its been pretty standard. I cant wait to get out into the field. I got to meet my mission president so that was cool. Im just ready to go and serve. Email and message me about anything! I love talking to you guys.

Only 2 More Days
8/19/24
Kia Ora

2 days left at the MTC. Ans then im free from my captivity! Nah but for real its been good being here. Ive learned a ton and im just gonna mention some things that ive learned in the mtc

Charity, the pure love of christ:

over 3 weeks in the mtc i have had 3 different companions. One speaks only french, one is from new zealand, and one is a brother from the states. They have shown me unconditional love in so many ways. And they have taught me how to love everyone. Their example of kindness to me does not go unnoticed

God is found everywhere:

As we go to the temple every thursday, i have been blessed to do work to bring other souls on the other side of the veil to christ, but something that astonishes me more then that opportunity is the beauty of this earth. The countryside in that area of new zealand near the temple is so serene and calm, it invites the spirit and i understand why the temple was built there. God is seriously created everything around us to be filled with his love.

The power of music:

I am blessed to have grown up in a musical family and the pacific islanders at the mtc have shared their love for music with us, the people states and other areas of the world. Being able to sing in tongan and english at night before bed brings us closer and invites the spirit. I love when we sing "love at home" because it reminds me of my family and of my dad and his love for that song.

The importance of personal study:

Before my mission i never studied the book of mormon. I barely even read it on my own time. But personal study has grown to be a time where i can connect with the lord and it has honestly been my favorite part of the day. I have never read something with more intent to learn then reading this book over the last 3 weeks. I advise you to study the book of mormon and WRITE. Write what you learned and then write about how you feel about what youve learned. Doing this will bless your life tremendously.

Find something to look forward to:

I have mentioned that i love personal study and I look forward to that. But i have found joy in having something at the end of the day to look forward to. For me it is my nightly routine of writing in my journal, reading "heart of the matter" by pres Nelson, and listening to 70's hits that ive downloaded on my mp3 player. Doing this comforted me after a long day and gives me motivation to look forward to this nighrly routine when i am struggling during the day.

I have learned a ton of doctorine and memorized a lot of principles, but i think that these lessons are much more important for me to learn.

Im excited to serve in 2 days. Email and message me whenever you guys can! I love talking to you guys and my love for you all is so so great.
