Long-suffering
¡Hola, hola, hola hermosa gente!
This week was a good one! I didn't get sick so that's a huge plus. This whole week I was just trying to kick the sickness I had, but that's ok. This week we saw some good miracles, but also some set backs.
Tuesday was a super fun day. We went to Oviedo to have our district council. After that we had our interviews with President Faúndez. He brought us Burger King to eat so that was pretty awesome. We all got interviewed which I always love. After that he drove us back to Villarrica. That was such a blast because we were able to talk to President Faúndez for an hour in the car so that was awesome. Then we had a fun family home evening with an awesome family in the branch.
Wednesday was a good day too. We were able to do some really good contacting online because we have like two hundred referrals from the last month and we get about five or six everyday so sometimes we just have to focus and send a ton of messages and do some videocalls.
Thursday was a crazy day. I don't know if I could explain what happened, but I can say that we got very excited about something that would help the work here a lot. Then at the last second we got told it would not be happening so that was very disappointing.
Friday was a really fun day that was full of small miracles. We went to go visit some members that we were told they weren't home but we decided to see if they were home anyways. Their daughter was there and we were able to teach her a little which was good. We were able to talk to her how she could help us reactivate lots of the young woman in the branch. Then the miracle came when their neighbor was home. This is a friend the other Elders were teaching and she was progressing a lot but then she moved to another city faraway. Luckily we were there because we learned she's back. It would have been almost impossible to know because she doesn't have a phone. Luckily we were there at the right time and we were able to teach her again.
Saturday like always we headed to Paso Yobai! I love going to Paso Yobai it's so much fun. We at lunch like always with President Torrez. Literally so good. Then we went and did visits with him. We were able to meet with Neri again. The whole branch is helping him and his girlfriend get ready for their marriage this Saturday and we are super busy planning everything for the baptism. Hopefully it all works out this weekend! We also at an awesome lesson with a couple we taught a bit ago and they are showing lots of interest. Hopefully they can start coming to church so they can progress. We then headed home and it was awesome because driving home it was nice and chilly and with the windows down it was just perfect.
Sunday was a little bit crazy. We arrived at church early like always. We walked into the church and their wasn't any power. So we had to get creative and open all the windows so there could be a little bit of light. It was a fun experience to have our whole sacrament meeting without power. Then during the classes the power came back on. In the middle of Elders Quorum an older man walked in and sat down in the back of the room. I had no idea who he was. About ten minutes into the class he asks very loudly "Do you guys use the Bible" we were like yes, yes we do. He was just a little confused because we were reading a conference talk from our phones. Pretty sure he's a member from maaaaany years ago, but he disappeared before I could ask him anymore questions so we will see what happens.
This week we read many scriptures that mentioned patience, but more specifically long-suffering. I actually like it more in Spanish it's longanimidad. It still means the same thing but it makes me think of the word ánimo. Animidad doesn't specifically translate to ánimo, but it makes sense in my brain. Long-suffering doesn't mean sitting, suffering, doing nothing, waiting for a change. I'd like to take the word in Spanish, Long "Ánimo". It means energy, excitement, light, happiness. When we need to be patience I can promise you it will be 100% better when we are positive and happy. When things don't work out think in the positive and just tunnel vision on that. Don't waste your energy "suffering" but spend your energy on "ánimo". I know I've had moments, years, of having to be patient and wait to see what happens. I love seeing what God's going to do when he asks us to be patient. Don't forget to keep going with all your heart, might, mind, and strength. Then wait with excitement!
That's it for everything this week! Hope you enjoyed reading! Love you all and have an amazing week!
¡Chau!
Love, Elder Acor
