Soeur Koger: 1/22/24

End of my Spanish era (for now)!

So um big news I'm being transferred... leaving the city and all of it's interesting smells lol.  I'm for sure going to miss the metro and being a city girl and being constantly surrounded by interesting people from all over the world, but my lungs will be happy:)  ive developed a cough but I think that's from the dusty basement in our church building.  So hopefully that won't come with me.

Speaking of which i also hope there will be less scary men in my new area because I've gotten a little too good at pretending I'm deaf when we walk through certain parts of the city. This week I was putting my deaf ears to use but after i ignored a guy saying whatever his line was he said, "Every single time!!" or "chaque fois!!" In a very angry voice - bro when are you going to realize that catcalling is not working?  Also how often do you say creepy things to random women?! Anyways that made me laugh.

For all of you that have served a mission learning a new language, i can sympathize having absolutely no idea whats going on around you... god knew i needed to be humbled so thats why i spent my first transfer learning spanish lol.  We had a member meal(yay!) And it was entirely spanish speakers... my comp told me to ask questions but tbh it's hard to ask applicable questions when you have absolutely no idea what they're talking about lol, in French I can at least comprehend the general idea but spanish... nada:)

Turns out they were making a comparison of the Venezuela government to book of mormon kings sooooo.

That member meal was very different vibes from the other member meal I had, the first one was in Portuguese and there were sketchy music videos playing in the background on a giant flat screen and at the one this week there was a GIANT flat-screen that did not fit in the appartement at all but it was playing this last general conference but in spanish over the course of the whole meal:)  that's one way to invite the spirit into your home, I'm a fan.

Their grandson was also running around saying wingardian leviosa with a wand and a pair of circle glasses, it was adorable:)

Dallin h oaks chez moi?  (congrats on your marriage kenzi;)) apparently there were some cool people at my house this weekend... that's all I have to say.

Pda in paris vs provo: which is worse? Idk but c'mon people let's have some respect for the public spaces.

On a completely different subject, I got to do a temple tour with my  parents which was so so cool:)

I was having a hard day and that, plus God showing Their love to me through a little spiritual experience in the gardens of the temple that dag was exactly what I needed<3.

I just want to testify that Jesus loves us and He doesn't turn away when we cry. He cries with us.  I feel peace in Christ.

I'm going to miss being a visitor center sœur so much that was such a blessing this transfer:') so when I said to schedule a temple tour with me that offer only stands until my last day on Tuesday.  I made so many friends working in the temple, speaking of which the barkers took our quad to see the galleries de Lafayette today for pday and they took us out to lunch!

New area announcement.... drumroll please....🥁🥁🥁🥁 I'm going to arras!! It's in the lille zone so it's farther north in France!

My new companion will be whitewashing the area with me, which means we'll both be new to the area!

Starting 2nd half training this Thursday with a new comp!  I'm excited:)

Byeeee paris I'll be back!

Sœur Koger (and this might be the last time I can also sign off as Hermana Koger)
