 Transfers and Flooding

¡Hola, hola, hola!

This week was one of the longest and shortest of my mission. I think about what happened this week and it feels like it was a month ago but at the same time I can't believe that it's already Monday again.

Tuesday I got to do exchanges with Elder Bryner in Presidente Franco! Elder Bryner is the Elder that I got to be comps with for a week when I had Covid in the MTC. This was the first time I was able to actually work with him in the field which was super awesome. It was fairly raining this day so honestly not many people accepted us, but hey we continued and tried to get some solid lessons in. It was good to catch up with him and see how he's doing. Also I finally ordered a scripture case for my scriptures so be looking for that in the next two months.

Wednesday was a super solid day. We got to teach a lot of our friends and get them to make commitments now we will just have to see if they keep them. We also finished off the day going to our ward night which is always fun.

Thursday morning we got transfer news and I am staying here in Cuidad del Este with Elder Woodbury. Elder Fernandez is leaving the companionship. Nothing really changed because we just lost Elder Fernandez but we are stilling grinding out the work here in this area. I finished Elder Woodbury's training here so now I am not technically training anymore. That's a little different. I am still district leader but we lost an area because it closed.

Friday was a crazy day. We went out to work in the morning and then it started to rain a lot. We went to our lunch and it just started pouring rain. We passed by so many people after that and just no one wanted to talk because it was raining. A bit of a rough day.

Saturday was just crazy. We woke up and studied then it was raining crazy hard. I'm not talking just a little but like the hardest I've ever seen it rain here in Paraguay. We ended up working online for a bit. Then we went out when the rain let up. Not even an hour being outside it started to pour buckets of rain. We decided to pass by one of our friends who is progressing a lot. Yeah that didn't end up happening because her house was about two feet underwater. We ended up coming home soaked and tired.

Sunday was not as rainy thankfully. We got to go to church but sadly not too many people came to church because of the rain the day before.

Today for Pday was so dang awesome. We went to Saltos Monday. It the huge waterfall that I've already passed by. With all of the rain now it is so full. As soon as we got there is started pouring rain but we went anyways and the river was flowing so fast and also there was so much water honestly such a cool experience.

That's pretty much it for my week. Nothing too crazy has happened in this area. We need to find more people which is always a little difficult.

Main lesson I've learned from this week is very important. If you know me or are around me often you know that I am a very self critical person. It's very hard for me to be satisfied with myself with whatever I do. I always feel like I could have done it better. In the mission it's pretty difficult not to be self critical especially as a leader in the mission. I'm constantly comparing myself. Many times I just sit and wonder why would the Lord want me as his servant when other people are much better suited to do it. Or why I'm a trainer. There are many things right. Main thing I know is that those doubt come from the adversary. I have to take time to tell myself those things aren't true. Another thing I thought of is from Elder Stevenson's conference talk this October he said that we should wake up and tell ourselves "Wow, look at me! I am awesome! I am a child of God! He knows me! He loves me! I am gifted" I really tried this week and it helped. My invitation is remember who you are this week.

Thanks for reading my email! Hope you have a wonderful week!

¡Chau!
Love, Elder Acor

  1. Sis. Ericksen here: I really enjoy your emails! And the photo of the dam gushing because of all the rain you've had is truly beautiful! God bless you for all you are doing! ☼
