Sister Sumsion: 7/31/23
ALMOST KILLED MY GREENIE *not click bait*
Let's just say that four years of lifeguarding came in handy when after three and a half hours of being outside in 100 degree heat plus standing around and talking to people almost wiped sister Riches out. We had just helped Habitat for Humanity provide parking for a local Peach Festival and wanted to use some time afterwards to look around and, of course, buy peaches. We had barely made it 50 feet into the market when a guy with a Jesus sign stopped us and started asking what generation of Mormon we were. He was very nice but I could tell he was on the brink of bashing us when Sister Riches looked at me and said "we gotta go". Literally the dude did not hear her at all and I was like aight lets wrap this up when sister Riches said "I'm about to pass out".
I grabbed her arm and smiled at the dude and said we would love to talk more but bye! and sat her bum down on the curb and shoved a $2 waterbottle in her hand. ($2?!?!?!?!)
Don't worry, we totally still bought a bunch of peaches but I was running on pure adrenaline the rest of the day and almost drowning my girl with water. We both love the heat but the heat does not love us.
Other than that, our week was all kinds of crazy with white washing and training things and just making sure we remembered everyone's names. Let's just say many mistakes have been made but the Atonement of Jesus Christ is REAL
The members have been so kind and welcoming and patient with us trying to get our feet under us. Things are well under way for the Feather River Temple open house and we give invitations out to as many people as we see.
One awesome miracle this week was meeting our inactive friend Julie. I think that my favorite people to meet with in this work is members trying to make their way back into the fold. They already have the primary basics down and then we can truly get to their concerns about returning. I love the improvement I have seen in many different lives and the joy that people feel after the power of the covenants they have already made come right back.
Julie was waiting out her door when we drove up to her apartment and let us right in and proceeded to talk our ears off. She does hair and reminds me so much of my sister in law whitney :) She is the absolute cutest human being and just wants help to understand. She had so many basic but genuine questions about the church that she never had the courage to ask and her joy of meeting with us was unreal. She cut my hair today and I felt right at home sitting in her chair. I almost wanted her to do more so I could stay there forever. Shoutout to my girl whitney I loved sitting in your chair <3 so nostalgic
I spoke in sacrament this week about, you got it, God's Love. I was also able to watch the homecoming of my mission momma Sister Ramesh who went home a couple weeks ago. I was able to reflect on the last 10 months and I could not be more grateful for the time I already have had and the time to come and for every person I have met along the way. I cannot wait for what is to come in the next 8 months :)
I love and miss you all! my new address is 1680 Rebecca drive Yuba City CA
All of you please listen to Brad Wilcox's talk HIs Grace is Sufficient it will change your life :)
