Sister and Elder Duncan: 5/15/23

Week 9 & 10 Laie Mission

Aloha Friends & Family,

I don't know where to begin, it goes by so fast. Stacy takes care of the missionaries with medical issues and loves making sure they are all healthy. 66 young sisters, 6 elders and about 120 senior missionaries. She stays pretty busy running around the island, picking up meds, and taking the young sisters to appointments. I go with her sometimes when I'm not working at the PCC.

We also work at the visitors center 5-6 shifts a month and we greet at The Aloha & Ohana Luau's 5 or 6 times a month. We are in a YSA single ward and enjoy hanging out with the young single adults. Bishop Fakatou asked us to teach the 5th Sunday combined lesson on temple and family history. It was really fun.

I gave out a Vietnamese Book of Mormon at the visitors center and asked the young man if I could have my new friend Elder Alex Tam call him. The young man accepted and Elder Tam contacted him. Elder Tam is Vietnamese and lived in South Vietnam through the fall of Saigon to the North Vietnamese. He and sister Tam have an amazing story and are truly some of the sweetest people in the world. We also got to see Mike, Kelly and Ashlie Cutler, Cambria Caldwell, Bonnie Bringhurst, Mckel(Bringhurst) & Mark Barney family.

We went to the ladies fire knife world championships, and the men's qualifying competition, it was amazing and my friend David's daughter won the women's world championship. David has won the men's world championship three times. He works at the PCC and I help him get the wood to cook the pigs at the Luau.

We love serving here and the spirit of aloha is real. The people are so kind and loving. I have learned so much from them, especially driving. They drive slow and let you turn in front of them. I'm definitely not used to kind driving in my home state:)

I hope everyone is doing well and we are grateful for all of you in our lives. Until we meet again.

Aloha Nui loa,

Dan & Stacy
