Elder Penrod: 5/1/23

What's up everyone!? Sorry its been so long since last time I emailed. I keep telling myself that I'm gonna email more frequently, but then always forget to do it haha.

I got to Calheta and this area is awesome! Its a small branch of like 14 active members, and there's not enough priesthood holders to have a sacrament meeting in calheta, so we all pile in a van every week and drive 30 min south to go to sacrament meeting at the next branch over. The branch members are amazing, and Calheta itself is super pretty. It's a coastal town, and our area is just a long strip of the island down the coast. There's always super beautiful beaches on one side of us, and big mountains and banana farms on the other side.

The work is a little slower here. This branch hasn't had a missionary baptism in over 3 years. But we're hoping to change that, we've got one guy on date and a couple super promising investigators. Ku fé na Deus it'll all work out.

This week I went back and read President Nelson's talk again, and I invite you all to do the same. It is so amazing that we have modern prophets. I have no doubt that President Nelson is receiving revelation for the church. God is giving him revelation specifically for us right now. It's so important that we follow his words and do the things he his telling us to do. I invite you all to read his talk again and pay very specific attention to the invites he gives us and have some honest self-reflection about how you are doing and what you can do better.
