Elder Acor: 3/20/23

¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos!

I hope that everyone had an amazing week this week! My week was pretty good! Had lots of things happen with divisions, zone conference, lessons with members, I hit eight months as a missionary! I learn more and more each week and I have learned so much this week especially.

I got to start off this week by doing divisions with Elder Fletcher! He is super dope. He has about four months in the mission so it was fun to see how the experience is coming along. He has so much confidence to talk with everyone and that is something that I want to be better at. He taught great for only having such little time. He definitely knows more Spanish than I did at that time. This is also the last week of this transfer so we will see what is going to change next week!

Then Wednesday and Thursday were super chill. Thursday we got to have a family home evening with a part member family and that was a really good time. Thursday night was a little crazy because we had to host four other elders in our apartment because Friday we had our zone conference. It was a blast to hangout with them because all of them I knew from old districts and zones.

Friday we had our zone conference and I don't know if I could write everything I learned because I learned a mountain of information from all of our leaders. President Faúndez taught about the importance of The Book of Mormon in our missions and how we can use it better in our lessons. Then after we learned how to help people come to church and how they can feel more comfortable. The secret is the members helping us. We also got to hear from Hermana Faúndez and she taught about patience. She taught us that patience isn't just suffering quietly waiting. Patience is doing all the things we can do to better our situation and keep trying even when we may not be seeing results.

Then the rest of the weekend I took our president's advice. Every single lesson that we taught I took out The Book of Mormon right out. Even if we weren't immediately talking about it I had it there ready to talk about it and share. Literally teaching was easier, my Spanish was better, the people understood our message. So what I learned is that The Book of Mormon has some real power and also when we listen to the advice of our priesthood leaders we can receive so many blessings in our lives. Saturday I got to do some service and we grinded up two huge bowls of corn to make corn flour for an older lady so she could sell it and make a little bit of money. Then on Sunday we finished church and I talked with some of our leaders. We have been struggling to get members to come with us to teach lessons but I just straight up asked our elders quorum president if he had time to visit a part member family with yes. He said yes like nothing. I have learned that I just need to have the confidence to ask and be prepared to plan things.

That was my week this week! Definitely better than these last couple weeks. While our situation may not have changed much, our attitude sure has. Love you all and I hope that you can have an awesome week and you can feel God's love in your life.

¡Adios!

Love, Elder Acor

  1. Sis. Ericksen here: Wow, you gave a wonderful summary of your week PLUS your zone conference. And by following the advice of your leaders, you amplified your teaching power. ☼
