Facing Opposition with Optimism

Cooper Acor <cooper.acor@missionary.org>

¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos!

This week was difficult but also so good. I would say that this week we had some of our most success. We have been able to find a lot of new people to teach. Lots of families who seem to be interested and not only that but we have two people on date for baptism! The most promising person is Ana. Just so all of you know we had divisions twice this week. During our first divisions Elder Palomino with one of our zone leaders met with her. It was only her second lesson but they invited her to be baptized and she said yes! We met with her again and taught her more about the gospel. Then yesterday we went to her house to walk with her to church. She was ready and she came to church! It was fast and testimony meeting so I gave my testimony which was cool because it was in Spanish and I truly gave my testimony directed at Ana to let her know that this is the true church. She said she felt peace and comfort and wants to come back next week. We have her scheduled to be baptized November 20th. Not only that happened at church but we had the most amount of people come to church since I have been here. Major blessings. We got so many inactive families to come and they all seem excited and ready to come back.

Like I said I had the opportunity to do divisions this week with my zone leader and my district leader. Both times I went to their areas and it was so much fun. Elder Hoover is one of my zone leaders and it was so fun going around and teaching with him. It was probably the most I have shared in lessons ever so that was really awesome. One old lady even said that I have better Spanish than him which is a total lie haha. Then I was able to go with my district leader Elder Pujols. This was difficult but fun. We worked and tried to find people to teach for five hours. Just five solid hours of just talking to people who were not interested and just getting rejected left and right, but hey the whole time we had big smiles and said high to everyone and laughed. My mom sent me a quote during this week by President Hinckley and it really stuck with me. He said "I have learned that when good men and women face challenges with optimism things will always work out...Despite how difficult circumstances may look at the moment those who have faith and move forward with a happy spirit will find that things always work out." I love this quote so much. It just puts the biggest smile on my face because no matter how bad things get, the one thing I can control is if I am happy looking at things in a positive way and smiling. It is all going to work out. Things look bleak but it will all work out just face your challenges with optimism. This week focus on the good. If a friend, family member, school, job or anything is bringing you down, think happy and optimistic that things will work out. I can promise that you will see the good in things and you will have a big smile on your face throughout the day.

That is it for this week everyone! Love you all! Have an amazing week! Smile and be a light in someone's life this week.

Love Elder Acor
