The Good in the Bad

Cooper Acor <cooper.acor@missionary.org>

¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos!

A lot of things happened this week so let me get started. First off, just so everyone knows all my friends and family in America, you guys are lucky because it is getting colder for all of you. It is getting hot here. Not only that but it is raining a lot more here too and that means humidity. This week starting on Tuesday I started to feel a little sick. Wednesday was rough. I had to stay in bed for a bit because I was feeling super awful but then at around 12 I was feeling better. We went out and started our day in, for the first time while I have been here, 100 degree weather. Then we started giving this lesson to this lady who is actually fairly interested so I am excited about that. While we were talking though the sky turned black. I have never seen the sky get so dark in my life during the day. Then it started pouring. Guess who forgot their umbrellas...we did. We walked to our next appointment which was about a 25 minute walk and we just got drenched. It was cool though because I got to see the night sky lit up my lighting about every 20 seconds. It was beautiful. Thursday was pretty chill for dinner though we got pizza made for us by this family. It was a little crazy. I think all of them were drunk but they loved us and they listened to our message. Friday we went to Asuncion for a conference with a general authority Elder Costa. It was really good to get a lot of things to think about missionary work and how to be the best missionary I can. Saturday was the day that kicked my butt the most. This whole week I was feeling under the weather but I woke up Saturday and I just could not wake up. I was feeling so sick. We took the day as a break and studied a lot and listened to conference talks. We went out for about 3 hours at the end of the day and I was feeling better. Sundays are always my favorite days because everyone here in Paraguay is home. Everyone is willing to listen to a message. We taught this one family of 7 people. My biggest lesson so far. It was awesome and we are hoping at least one of them progresses.

As I have mentioned this whole week I have just not been feeling good. It has really allowed me to take my advice from last week to just keep moving even when we feel like we do not want to keep moving. What I learned too this week is take the breaks you need because keep moving but do not just move to have no destination, have a plan of what you want to work towards. While this week I may have felt sick I think that my Spanish has been the absolute best this week. I was understanding. I was talking and sharing. Yes I was still struggling but I was struggling less. I got tons of compliments from people saying that for the time I have here in Paraguay my Spanish is very good. One guy we taught asked me if I was latino. Not that I look latino but I guess he thought I knew Spanish. So when things are looking bad, look for the good in the bad. There always is. Sometimes you have to push it a little bit but sometimes it is good.

That is it from me this week. Everyone have a great week. Pray and read the scriptures everyday. Love you all!

Love Elder Acor
