The Storms of Life
Cooper Acor <cooper.acor@missionary.org>
¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos!
Wow everyone, the days and weeks are just going by faster and faster. Just shows that I am doing things right here on the mission. This week was transfers. Nothing too crazy happened. I am still with my comp and there were some changes in the district so now we do not have hermanas, it is just six Elders in our area. Hey I am not the greenes anymore because we are getting some new things in the district. He is from Spanish Fork Utah so I am excited to talk to him about Utah. I also had divisions with my District Leader. That was super fun and I led my area for the first time.
I really felt like I was in Utah this week! The weather here has been so crazy. Tuesday was pretty normal for divisions but Wednesday we had a crazy storm. This was an insane thunderstorm with winds going as fast as 80 kilómetros an hour (That is like 50mph) It was so crazy. We were lucky enough to be right in the streets when it happened and just get pelted with hail and see roofs being blown away. The power went out on one whole half of the city. A tree almost fell on my comp. It was just a crazy experience. Walking around the next day and just seeing what the storm did was sad. Houses had no roofs, every single street had just tree branches scattered everywhere. It took about a day and a half to get power back. This was one of the craziest storms I have ever been in. The next couple it was about 85 degrees and we were sweating and just dying of heat. It was a fast Sunday too so we were a bit dehydrated. Then just like that the next day it was 40 degrees and I was freezing in a sweater and jacket. Luckily amazing members gave us hot food and cocido which is like sweet milk tea. Now during this P-Day today it is just pouring down so much rain. Un poco loco here in Paraguay.
Well I do not think that I would be a missionary if I didn't relate pretty much every experience to the gospel and life. This week we have learned a lot. Pretty much all of our friends are not progressing so this week we did a lot of contact with inactive members and members. After the storm there were a lot of opportunities to serve which was just so amazing I loved it. Something that I learned though is that everyone has a story. Everyone was telling us about a major struggle in their life. We got to talk about the Gospel and bring a new hope into so many people's lives. We are hoping that in this next transfer we can make the branch much stronger. So when we have our storms in life and we feel like all of the trees have fallen down or our power is out I invite you to turn to you Heavenly Father, ask for strength. Read the Book of Mormon and learn more about this amazing gospel. With time you start to feel better. It will not be immediate because things take time but once we start putting in the effort the Lord will do the rest.
Love you all so much and hope you all have such an amazing week. I would love to hear updates about all of your lives. What is happening or anything cool that is happening I would love to hear it.
Love Elder Acor
