Missions are Gifts

¡Hola mi familia y a mis amigos!

The days and weeks just keep going faster! I can not believe that I have been a missionary for a month. This truly has already been one of the most amazing experiences in my life and I can not wait to get into the field and serve for the next 23 months. Our schedule is still the same: go to class everyday and learn a lot about the gospel and learn a lot of Spanish. Everyday I am learning new phrases and words and trying my best to speak with others. I have been able to do some activities for our class where we have to go bare our testimony with a Latino. That can be very intimidating but everyone I have talked to has been so nice and always gives me the best advice.

I finally got my flight plans to Paraguay yesterday! I leave Mexico at 10:30am on Monday the 29th and we fly to Panama first and we have an hour layover in Panama then head to Paraguay! I am so excited and while I have loved my experience here in the CCM and learning and being around so many spiritual people I can tell you that I am so ready to leave and serve the people of Paraguay. Now do not get me wrong this is not because I know everything about Spanish and everything about the Gospel. What I am ready for is to learn and be in the field teaching others struggling to speak Spanish. I am ready for that. This last week I have never been more excited to serve and I am counting down the days till I can meet the amazing people of Paraguay.

Last night we had the amazing opportunity to listen to a general authority. Brother Douglas of the Seventy. He gave such an amazing talk about missionary work and the purpose of it. He got me so excited to go tell the world about the gospel. One thing that really stood out to me that he said was that a mission is a gift. I really started thinking about that statement. We are called and told to serve missions since the day we are born but how is it a gift? Then I started diving deeper. It is a gift because in order to serve a mission Heavenly Father has allowed me to be healthy enough to serve. It has been a gift that Heavenly Father gave me amazing examples of missionaries in my family who have served before me. It is a gift because I have been able to grow my testimony to the strongest it has ever been here on my mission. It is a gift because I get to go bless other people's lives. One other thing Brother Douglas said was to have a smile on your face everyday because who knows who's looking and needs to see that smile. So everyone reading this email please smile this week! Especially my friends and family starting up school! School is hard so smile in the hall at everyone because I promise that it will make someone's day.

That is it for this amazing week! I love you all and hope you have the best week ever!

¡Adios!

Love Elder Acor
