This week I finished my last week of online mtc (wohooo) and started getting ready to leave for mexico! My motivation for online learning has been lowering a little bit so I'm excited to be in person.  Some highlights - my afternoon teacher called this week Christmas week and we played christmas hymns everyday, so one class my district decided to prank her and we all dressed up in christmas outfits and sang feliz navidad! She was very surprised and it was a funny moment for everyone - Scripture study with my companera was so good! We read the story of the anti-nephi-lehi's and I learned so much about what true conversion means and how the atonement can truly heal everyone and anyone. It's probably my favorite story in the Book of Mormon now - Saturday I went to dinner and played games with my family which was a blast! We played jackbox and I couldn't stop laughing. Then we made smores that night.  It's crazy to see how much we can grow in just two weeks! I know th...

Hello my friends! I hope it has been a wonderful week for you!  This week has been a pretty good one for us!! We've found new people, we've taught awesome lessons, we've learned a lot. So ill just tell a couple of stories and then let you get on with your day :))  This week we agreed to meet our friend David at his.... karate dojo. :) Yeah we were thinking we'd get to have a lesson but uh.... no. He did karate. While we talked to his Sefu!! (i dont know how to spell that dont come at me) But Sefu Des was SO cool!! He actually was really wise. He talked about how faith is like blocking. If you are in a fight and someone swings at you or whatever, but you dont think the block will work, you flinch. And what happens? You get hit. What about when you've tried and tested the block? You won't flinch. 'Cause you know it will work. He related this to faith because if we get in a situation where we actually have to USE faith, are we going to flinch, or are we going...

Primera Semana amigos y familia,  Wow I can't believe my first week at the MTC online is already done!! It seems like just yesterday I wasn't wearing the tag. Pero I love the MTC online. I have the best district, teachers and compa. It is a lot of sitting down on Zoom, and I have a rolley-chair, so you might be able to see the problem there jajaj. I love learning Spanish even though it's really hard and the missionary schedule has been great. Some highlights from this semana were:  1. getting to know my district, there's an elder who knows how to play nerts and a sister who was in my BYU ward!! I love them all so much and can't wait to be in mexico with them 2. meeting my compa hermana mapes who is so fun. She loves music and movies and I can tell we're going to be super good friends 3. Reading the scriptures, spanish is a muy muy bonita idioma!! 4. Going to the temple con mi amiga Kelsey - we were doing endowments for family names and both of our names (cynth...

Week 31: la semana de los milagros This email might be kinda long 'cause this week was INSANE. Such a good week! I just have a million things i want to share with yall.  First off..... yesterday was Fathers Day :)) So lets start with a little shout out to my wonderful dad. Throughout my mission when I have had gospel questions, I turn to my dad. Because for some reason he is not only a huge bank of temporal and practical knowledge, but he also has the scriptures memorized I'm pretty sure. Plus he understands Isaiah and i just dont even know how. And what I love is that I didnt realize that on my mission. I knew that before. I went into my mission knowing that my dad knew the gospel because he had made studying it a priority. I knew my dad knew the gospel because he always had a worthy temple recommend, and he used it often. I knew my dad knew the gospel because he always taught it to us. And that is such a huge example to me. My dad is cooler than your dad, what can I say. Ha...

Week 30: Getting Gains Well hello you wonderful people!! What a week it has been!!! Monday night I got a fever and pRactically died. So we spent my last week in Waycross really sick. I had a fever from Monday night to Thursday afternoon. It was so fun. So we said goodbye to a lot of people when i was feeling good and just did our best to be productive. Not the send off i would have wished for, but the one I got. Im so grateful for Waycross and all that ive had the wonderful opportunity to learn there. Waycross will always be written on my heart :)  So Gainesville!! Although we seem to have lots of cockroaches living in our apartment, it is a good time here. Everyone is a big *puke* gator fan here so.... imma have to start walking around in my bulldogs shirt. Jk jk but for real people are scary big gators fans. Our ward is super nice, a lot younger of a ward than Waycross but... its the weirdest thing cause NO ONE HAS AN ACCENT. Am I even IN the south anymore???? The answer i...

I feel like a living meme. The odds have been totally against me these past few weeks BUUTTT that's ok! Just goes to show I'm stronger than life's challenges and willing to make the most out of any situation  Honestly tho i was feeling a little bummed that my last few weeks of the mission is being spent in doors and sick. Meaning I can't function at full capacity due to sanity levels but also physical illness. It's just all this precious time that I have that isn't going the way I thought or planned. Plus I feel bad cause Sister Baileys first couple weeks of training hasn't been normal and spent indoors which is the last thing any missionary ever does. Annnnd my fomo is off the charts because I want to hang out and party with my district but instead I'm inside and literally dying 😂 I asked president for an extension on the mission. Not only because of sickness but because I genuinely want more time on my mission. I'm just completely happy. He thou...

To the men who bless our lives It is not flesh and blood, but the heart which makes us fathers and sons. -- Johann Friedrich von Schiller Share a little love with our YW  Next week, 17 or our young women and 10 fearless leaders will be heading out to camp. We non-camping sisters have an opportunity to connect! If you'd like to share any kind of treat or prize with a signed love note, the YW leaders will pass these along to the girls. It might be a plate of cookies, a tube of chapstick, a squirt gun, a flashlight... anything the girls would enjoy receiving during camp week. To participate, please drop off items at the Koger's home (1888 Spring Oaks Drive) by 8pm this Tuesday, June 21.  Blood drive Springville Utah Stake and the American Red Cross are hosting a blood drive. The need for blood is constant -- someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime. If you can donate, here's the 411...   POD-positives! Summer has arrived. It's great to hear your stories and the creative ways that some ministering groups are using to stay connected these days -- How is your group doing, and what is your group doing?!? It's the perfect time to show some love and share some sunshine with the sisters in your ministering pod. Teaching helps Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf will speak in a special broadcast, Teaching in the Savior’s Way , on Sunday, June 12, 2022. We are all teachers at one time or another. Making time to watch the broadcast or recording will help us in our efforts... and who doesn't love to listen to and learn from Elder Uchtdorf! What we’re talking about Sue Grassley will lead this Sunday's RS discussion of President Nelson's conference address, "The Power of Spiritual Momentum." This talk has so much goodness in it, we could study it for several weeks. But even a quick review can help you to feel our prophet's love and concern... My dear broth...

What. Is. Up. Yall ??! Who's ready for another exciting week in the life of sister neel? Ahaha me too. These recaps are so fun  Ok guys our mission seeks and expects miracles and this month is gonna be absolutely lit. Let me just say that President and Sister Maurer are so inspired and have shaped this mission into a haven of love and success. It's absolutely amazing to serve alongside them. They felt inspired to have every companionship in the mission prepare to put 2 people on date by the end of June. In some areas, that's going to be a stretch, in others it's easy peasy, and in the rest of them, it's already happening. All in all, the entire mission will be unified to seek those that God wants to be baptized into His church and make it happen. They created a mission wide chat on Facebook where everyone can send in who they're putting on date and who's getting baptized. That way the entire mission can pray for those individuals and we can celebrate toget...

week 29: the sisbenz is killing us all YALL TRANSFERS ARE THIS WEEK! How wild is that. Anyone else feel like we... like literally just had transfers? Cause I do. I feel like that. But yeah so Im just gonna let yall wait in SISBENZ (sister benson/suspense. hehehehehe)  This week was such a good one honestly. Well I mean as good as it can get as a missionary haha. We started out the week with TWO people telling us not to come back or contact them again. One lady we had been talking to/teaching for three months. And the other was an amazing street contact we found a week or so ago that asked us to come back but then.... someone told her a lot of stuff about "mormons" and she said she didnt want to see us again. Gotta love it. BUT. God blessed us regardless.  This week we went to visit a referral. We had tried to get in contact multiple times and just hadnt been able to. So we went to his house as kind of a final contact. And no one was home :/ so we were standing on the po...

Hello and iaorana everyone!  Welcome to the end of an era and the last group email sent by yours truly:') just so you know, my mission means everything to me and I would never give back a single second. I have grown, not any taller:(but in my faith! I learned about how much God loves me and you, and I learned how to use the Atonement of the Savior.  For my last week, I figured I would share some firsts I experienced these last couple of weeks- I got some dishes thrown at me this week while doing some contacting and I thought it was really exciting, but unfortunately my lack of reaction did ensure that I would get the closest chair thrown at me as well. We left pretty fast.  A man asked me what part of Tahiti I was from!! Was he really intoxicated? Yes. But nonetheless Two lizards died in my honey jar which was really gross and unfortunate:( I just wanted to eat my goat cheese and honey pizza  I finally got up the courage to stick a camera in our attic to addre...
