Week 25: Say it... out loud
Helloooo my fine fellows. (seriously im running out of ways to start these things and im not even close to done) This week in lovely Georgia has been beautiful as always.... and really really hot. Its fine we're having so much fun. Even if we're dripping sweat. :)
This week honestly was kinda long. We're fixing to run out of people to teach seeing as how... baptist preachers are very common in this area. So our homies are kind of dropping like flies. Our friend Bradley- the one who watched all of conference and had a baptismal date for May 14th- has dropped off the face of the planet. When we first started teaching him he told us he was more comfortable doing lessons over zoom or in public. Well we never could get him to commit to a in person lesson... and now hes completely stopped answering our calls/texts/everything. And so we finally stopped by the apartment complex address he gave us. He didnt give us the apartment number so we went to the office and asked. And this lady was so so nice... and she said shed NEVER HEARD OF HIM. So.... that was awesome and we have zero contact with him. Lets just say... hes not getting baptized next Saturday. While we were there looking for him we talked to two different people! And both of them turned down the Book of Mormon. Saying either they "had their own Bible" which... we had just explained it wasnt a bible.... and the other saying he wanted nothing to do with God or whatever we had to say. So that was cool. We were also told by someone the other day that we dont believe in God and we are children of the devil. So honestly this week the bible belt really just gave us a licking.
On a more positive side of things! Let me explain my title and YES it is a movie quote. Ten points if you email me and tell me what its from. This was Sister Swain and I's goal this week. Is when we have a prompting, to say it out loud. How many of us have a prompting thats a liiiittle scary or out of our comfort zone and we're like hmmm.... Id rather not. If youre not raising your hand... youre either lying or we need to have a chat cause I need lessons from you. Although following any and all promptings diligently is an ongoing goal of mine.... turns out Im not the bravest person I know. BUT! I find it easier to follow if I voice it. Because then its real right? Once its not just in your head you feel a little more obligated to do it. So thats been our goal! And it has brought glorious Spirit lead chaos into our lives :) Like biking an hour to an appointment. In 90 degree heat. (full humidity dont worry) Around trains and over highway overpasses (sorry mom!) dealing with flat tires and stupid helmets. But it was SO FUN. And God knew we needed some fun. Not only that but we met an amazing 88 year old man who literally danced as he filled my bike tire because he was so happy we were "serving the Lord instead of serving the streets". Saying promptings out loud has gotten on many phone calls, talking to tons of people, and putting our lives more in Christs hands. And who doesnt want that? No we havent been perfect, but its been easier. So that is my invite this week. Just say it... out loud. Who knows you might meet someone with just a *sparkling* personality. (hehehe see what I did there) So yeah! Voice your promptings. Its even better if someone hears you ;) then they can help you stick to it.
I love yall!! Have a fantastic week! Keep praying, keep reading your scriptures, keep the faith. Youre doing amazing :)
