Sister Benson: 2/7/22
Yes ma'am i've reached it. Someone this week asked where i was from, and was surprised when I said Utah. I excitedly asked "do i sound southern?!!" "mmm no... you sound like you're from California." Dang it. So close and yet waaaayyyy too far. Someday Ill sound southern.
Hellllooo y'all!! This week has been a good one!! Starting off strong, we finished the Saints this week! I stronggggly encourage y'all you read it/listen to it because wow. This church is so true and perfect. The people aren't, but the gospel it. God is.
This week we met with our wonderful amazing Ernie. And he had a ton of questions about Abraham and Moses. Ernie was baptized one year ago!! And just last month we realized he had no idea what the Pearl of Great Price was. once introduced, he blaaaazed through it. And came with questions. And it was amazing. As i was answering his questions, i realized something. I had never read Abraham. I had only read some of Moses. How did i know the answers to the questions he was asking us? How did i know them so in depth? Unfortunately im not here to tell you that God was filling my brain with all the answers- as cool as that is and as possible as it is- thats not what happened. So i was thinking. How do i know this? And I will tell you, and i hope you learn from it. It was because of my parents. I never read Moses or Abraham, but my dad did. I didnt know the gospel very well, but my mom did. And my parents took EVERY opportunity to teach us what they knew. I knew all of the answers about what Kolob is and what the heck is an intelligence??? Because my parents took the time to tell me what THEY knew. I didnt even know I was listening half the time. But God is good and he is bringing things to my remembrance, that I can now remember my parents teaching me. Since being on my mission I realize i took their knowledge for GRANTED. Since being on my mission every p day i come to my dad, my mom, and my brother with QUESTIONS. Because trust me. They know the answer. They always know the answer. In Jacob 5 it talks about the ROOTS being strong. And my roots. Are my parents. And they've kept me strong. I loooove you :))
This week Sister Ashby and I went on a bike ride. Mostly because my mom was like buuuuggging me about it. So. We threw on our dorky helmets, got in our bikes and roooode. (thank you Queen) We passed out- between the two of us- like 40 pass along card with a note and our number. And gosh darn. No one called us. BUT! Georgia is beautiful and God is soooo amazing. Cause he created Georgia. And thats pretty amazing. :)
A little update on Karley! (Remember her? She bought the abandon house?) Cause I just KNOW yall are wondering :) Karley is just amazing. The hard thing is, that she is SO busy! So getting with her is tricky. So when she called us in the middle of the afternoon and said "hey we're painting! wanna come?" we dropped everything and said YES! We showed up and her and her mother in law were there. Her father in law... is a pastor. Thats always so much fun for us. SO! While we were painting, we got on the topic of missions. And oh my. We got talking yall. They asked where we were from. Utah. WHAT? How old are you? 19. WHAAT? How long are you here? 18 months. WHAAAT? YOU DONT GET TO TALK TO YOUR FAMILY? YOURE WATCHING YOUR NIECE GROW UP ON FACEBOOK? YOUR BOYRFRIEND IS WHERE???????????????? THEY SEND PEOPLE TO CHILE?!?!?!??! It was awesome. By the end we always had wrapped it back to, we chose to be here because we love Christ. And we want other to as well. And they loved that. And we loved that. And thats all this is really about right? Life is about Christ. Turn it all back to him. So, heres my invitation to you this week. This week you have seven days until NEXT time i give you an invitation. :) Each of the seven days this week I would like you to bring ONE conversation (preferably with someone you wouldnt nooormally talk about Jesus with ;)) back to Christ. Your loving Savior. Its not hard, doesnt mean its not scary, but its not hard because everything points to Jesus. So, thats my invitation. If you want to report back to me next week Id love it :))
I love yall so much!!! If yall wanna send any letters to me.... Sister Ashby and I are having a competition and uh... shes dominating. So... send me a blank envelope and ill be happy :)) Nah im just kidding BUT if you wanted to Id love to hear from you. Letters make the week less lonely. I get interaction from home on p days, but the rest of the week not so much. But letters come any day of the week and we love that.
