Sister Benson: 1/24/22
Howdy yall! Just kidding thats Texas not us. We just say aint. :)
This week has been a loooong one. So busy!! On Thursday we had Zone Conference!! During one of the lessons that President Wood was teaching, someones phone went off. It was SO LOUD. "Unknown Caller". And President Wood said as he continued to write his point on the board, "Maybe its the Holy Ghost?" We all cracked up. But really, is the Holy Ghost trying to get through to you? Stop sending the Spirit to spam ;) For real if God is calling on you, are you afraid to answer the call? Do you let it ring for a bit before finally picking up? Or do you run to the phone and say YES!!! What can I do? How can I further the work. How can you further the work? You better pray about it, maybe God will call and tell you ;)
Last week I mentioned finding a woman in an abandon house. Since that's panned out a little bit.... Ill explain. :) Sister Ashby and I went to visit a referral. And when we showed up.... it was bad. The house looked gutted and abandon. It was a scary mess. We sat in the car for a second going over our game plan. We'd knock, no one would answer, and we'd leave. And then a car pulled into the driveway. And we were like ohhhh great whoever lives here is CRAZY. But hey that's missionary work. :) So we jumped out of our car and walked up the driveway. This lady got out and two little girls spilled out of the car. So we went up and asked if she was Teresa. And she told us that actually Teresa had moved and that her and her husband had just moved into the house, and that her name was Karley. She talked to us for a while about the house, about her family, and then we talked about the gospel. And she told us that she would totally be interested in a) us helping her with her house and b) learning more about what we believe. What a MIRACLE!!!! Then this past week we said HEY KARLEY!! How can we help you this week :) So Sister Ashby and I painted two rooms in her new house. And the whole time we just talked to her about... all kinds of things!! Just wonderful conversations. Her two little girls are shyyy but by the end Sister Ashby and I had gotten through to them a bit. And before we left, we testified to Karley about the Book of Mormon. We told her that families are SO important, and that this book was about a family. And she accepted one and the invitation to read it. We were SO excited!! Karley is amazing.
My mom told me that I needed to talk more about all the amazing things ive been eating. So this last week i ate a pear with mayonnaise, shredded cheese and a maraschino cherry on top. It was disgusting. Welcome to the south!! Okay but actually i had my first southern boil this week and it was AMAZING. So good. And the amount of really good fluffy sweetcakes (pancakes) ive had is just... heavenly. I love the south. I love their food. Except for the disgusting mayo pears.
