Did you think to pray

We’re entering a busy season filled with so many opportunities and obligations. It can feel overwhelming. Prayer may not reduce a to-do list, but it can help us see more clearly our “who, what, when, how…”

“Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good…”

Alma 37:37

Comfort quilts

Several Utah County agencies have an urgent need for quilts and bedding. These agencies assist women and children escaping domestic abuse, as well as individuals transitioning from homelessness to apartments. Our ward is invited to join in the JustServe.org Comfort Quilts project. Church Humanitarian has offered 400 quilt tops and backing to help with this project. Our ward has committed to complete 5 quilts.  The Relief Society in our ward will provide the batting and yarn but we are in urgent need quilting frames and sisters willing to host a quilting party at their house to work on tying these quilts. We will have a Sign-up Genius up this weekend for all ward members to sign-up to help.  We will also need experts in our ward to lead the way on this project since many of us have little to no experience finishing a quilt.

In the meantime, if you have quilting skills, supplies, frames (or just the desire to bring some comfort to someone in our corner of the world) will you consider putting them to work in the days ahead…?  All quilts must be completed by December 15th.

Don’t miss the last Saturday for collections: November 13

Utah hospitals and clinics are in need of gently used aluminum crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.

A global shortage of aluminum means that crutches, canes, and walkers are in short supply for most hospitals. Imagine trying to get around after hip surgery or after breaking your leg without the aid of these devices.

If you have gently used aluminum crutches, a cane, a walker, or even a wheelchair, sitting around in a closet or your garage, please donate them at the locations/times listed in the attached document.

Save the date

The ward Christmas dinner will be held on December 9. Bring a friend, join your neighbors… the delicious food and festivities promise to help you feel the Christmas spirit!

What we’re talking about

This Sunday Kate Searle will be leading our discussion of Elder Michael A. Dunn’s talk, “One Percent Better.” She will help us get our minds and bodies moving as we walk through different images and discuss how we can improve our lives with the help of Christ, one percent at a time…

What we’re reading

This week our Come Follow Me reading is D&C 129-132, “When We Obtain Any Blessing from God, It Is by Obedience.”
