Sister Koger 3/29/21
Hey all! I am so sorry that I have been really bad about sending weekly emails, but I am finally in Fresno! I absolutely love it here and love being a missionary. My companions are sister Winn and Sister Chambers, and I could not have asked for better best friends to be starting this work with. As soon as I arrived, they told me that they are the social media specialists for the entire mission, along with four other missionaries. We run the Fresno Instagram and Facebook pages, so make sure to go check them out! While running Facebook pages might sound like a breeze, I am very quickly realizing that it is not. We have meetings almost everyday with our moderators, admins, and project managers that have been assigned to get us up to speed on what progress looks like with all of the pages. There is a budget for running ads that we have to keep track of, spreadsheets with page likes, replies, and so many other things that I did not know were going to be a part of my mission! It's so exciting, and I'm really learning from the best. Because of this assignment, we got to attend mlc on my second day, which is mission leadership conference! It was about five hours long, and I got a lot of great insights as to how a mission as a whole works. It also meant that I got to meet a lot of the zone leaders and sister training leaders from other areas. After that set of meetings, all of the social media specialists had a meeting with president, and it was super interesting to learn more about what the vision of our social media is.
I love my savior and know that his work is the most important thing I can be doing right now. Social media is such an incredible and accessible tool, and I'm so excited to learn more about using it.
I love Clovis! It's so pretty here, and I'm learning to love the Ward and everyone around us. We've taught a lot a lot of member lessons so far, and have a couple cute little kids that are taking our lessons. They are so special to me, and I feel our savior's love for them so strongly.
It is non stop laughter over here with my cute companions. They asked me all of the pop culture questions before I left, and sister Chambers in the quietest voice asked me if Obama had been divorced, because she saw that headline while checking out at the store. I said I was pretty sure he hadn't, but if anyone has anymore info, let me know...
Finally, this week ended on the highest note possible because we all felt really strongly that we needed to go visit nine year old skyler if we could find a spare moment. We had a member lesson cancel, which was a bummer, but we decided to go visit skyler. We taught her the sweetest lesson about how much Jesus Christ loves her. I invite all of you to read third nephi 11, and look for all of the words used to describe God and Jesus Christ. It was such a cool experience to be able to Feel their love for Skyler as we sat there teaching her. We invited her to be baptized, and she said it was something she had already been thinking about! So crazy! We need to talk to her mom next week about it, so everyone please please pray to soften her parent's hearts about baptism.
Missionary work is awesome! I love you all:)
